Ikorodu Youths Set To Get Hub

Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYIM) is close to achieving one of the major resolutions at its 2nd youth summit as it is set to establish vocational centres across Ikorodu Division with facilities to enable youths acquire skills.

According to report gathered, the first quarter of this year has been set for the completion of the project which will be tagged, ‘Ikorodu Division Youth Hub’.

THE IMPACT also gathered that IYDM has been able to secure an abandoned building within the Etunrenren Primary School in Ikorodu Local Government which is going to be rehabilitated and converted to a youth hub.

Acquisition of the abandoned structure, our reporter gathered, was made possible through the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education which has Mrs Kemi Kalesanwo as its Director.

It was gathered that Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB) granted the permission for the usage of the facility for the project, aimed at training the youths in non-formal vocational skills, on the request of Mrs Kalesanwo.

The project is also being supported by the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Agriculture, Ms. Bisola Ruth Olusanya, and Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson.

At a meeting held on Friday, January 31, 2020, with stakeholders on the project which was attended by Dr Abiodun Fatai Abatan, Chairman of the IDYIM Board of Trustees (BOT), and lkorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYIM) and Comrade Samson Bisriyu, the Executive Director and member of the BOT of the youth group, it was resolved that training would start in April this year.

It was also gathered that stakeholders are making serious efforts to get necessary facilities ready for the commencement of the training.
