LASG Presents N480M Insurance Benefits To Relatives of Deceased Teaching, Local Council Workers

In fulfillment of the welfare packages promised by the State Government to its workforce, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has presented a total sum of N480m to the families of 258 deceased workers as life insurance premium benefits.

The Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke made this presentation to the families of the deceased workers of Lagos State comprising 152 primary school teachers (teaching and non-teaching) and 106 local government workers at the Digital Village Alausa, Ikeja.

Arobieke, disclosed that the insurance benefits presented to the families of the deceased is aside from the usual gratuity and pension benefits accruable to the deceased staff.

She further explained that the insurance benefit was made possible in conjunction with LASACO Assurance Plc.

The Commissioner however, enjoined the families of the late Lagos State workers to make judicious use of the benefit presented to them, saying that that they should use it to advance the livelihood of their immediate family members in line with the dreams and aspirations of the deceased persons.

Speaking further, the Commissioner implored active workers to continue to put in their best in the service of the state so that together we can achieve a greater Lagos.

The General Manager, LASACO, Mr Dimeji Olona stressed that the Lagos State Government has great interest in the Welfare and education of its workers, hence making provision of Life Assurance Policy.

He also further charged the representatives of each deceased family to make good use of the money presented to them.

Responding, Alhaji Fatai Alaka, one of the beneficiaries expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of other recipient to the state government for its kind gesture towards the family and dependents of the deceased
