Hon. Benson, Ikorodu Residents Defy Heavy Rainfall To Share ‘Apo Anu’

Some residents defying heavy downpour in Ikorodu to get their October ration of ‘Apo Anu’, a Foodbank program that has received acknowledgement globally

The lawmaker representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson, and members of his group, iCare foundation, yesterday (Saturday) defied the heavy downpour in the early hours of the day to share the monthly food ratio tagged, ‘Apo-Anu’, to hundreds of residents in Ikorodu division.

Also at the constituency office of the lawmaker to show support for the programme were Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Rilwan Jinadu, former Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikorodu Local Government, Comrade Fakolade Oluwafemi, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ikorodu branch, Hon. Ola Ameen Apanisile, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Mr Odugbesi, Secretary to the Ikorodu North LCDA and Mr Wole Ajifowoke among otherss.

Among beneficiaries of the two term lawmaker’s gesture, that have benefited thousands of families in the six Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Ikorodu Division, were old men and women, people with disabilities, those in need and unable to provide for themselves, motherless children and other vulnerable residents.

Hon. Benson, who as usual went round to greet beneficiaries and guests, also took some time out to join other guests and some of the beneficiaries in dancing to songs provided by the Olufowora babes that dished out political and cultural songs to entertain the gathering.

In the iCare group’s effort to cushion the effect of the heavy downpour, all the beneficiaries were given undisclosed amount of money as transport fare back to their various destinations.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our reporter appreciated the lawmaker’s gesture in supporting his constituents.

MRS KEMI KEHINDE, Ikorodu North LCDA:

“I’m so happy about all what he has done. May Almighty God continue to bless him. I pray Hon. Babajimi Benson shall never lack. He has done good, may he continue to get more rewards”.

MRS FAUSAT KAZEEM, Ikorodu Local Govt:

“I really appreciate what Jimi Benson has done. We are not flattering here because some politicians have the power to do such but they are not doing it. May Almighty God reward him accordingly. May He continue to help him and guide his children”.

“JB is doing a very good work. He is helping and saving some Nigerians from hunger. I pray that God will help him too. May he move to a greater height because I can assure you if JB can become our president, no one will suffer from hunger. What he’s doing now will help those that do not have food to eat. May he not suffer as he’s doing this by God’s grace. He will be uplifted beyond the level that he is presently so that he can be able to do more than this next time.(Amen)”.

MR JANGO OLOFIN, Ikorodu LGA:

“Jimi Benson has not just started this programme, he has been doing it for long. If we can have more of JBs in Ikorodu, Ikorodu people will not depend on anybody again. He helps both the poor and the rich as well as every other person in the community”.

“I thank Hon. Babajimi Benson a lot, because I haven’t seen anybody doing all what he has been  doing in lkorodu. He is a kind of person that gives people money, food and also pay children’s school fees. Like today, we did’nt expect a token from him but he decided to give us transport fare back to our various destinations. May God continue to lift his hands higher. (Amen)”.
