Eminent Group Hosts Lagos East, Ikorodu Division’s Elected, Appointed Representatives

-Urges them to ensure that the division gets its fair share at Federal, State and Local Government levels

Rt. Hon. The Liaison Group of the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID) has called on sons and daughters that were elected and appointed from Ikorodu division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, to come to the aid of the division and ensure that it gets its fair share of distributions of resources at Federal, State and Local Government levels.

The group made the appeal during te reception organized in honour of elected and appointed representatives in Lagos East Senatorial District (Ikorodu Division) at the Ikordu Town Hall on Friday, September 6, 2019.

Liaison Group , the organizer of the impressive outing, was established to serve as engine room towards the creation of future excellence in all ramifications for Ikorodu Division by harnessing all resources available for development in line with the global Human Development ndex (HDI) and also to monitor the pattern of distribution of socio-political, infrastructural and economic resources of the State with a view to seeking and ensuring equity, accountability, fairness and justice.

Sir Engr. (Chief) Kayode Shoderu, the chairman of EPID , speaking at the reception , called on the elected and appointed representatives from the division and Lagos East Senatorial District to use their good offices to bring developments to Ikorodu division.

“The reception has been organized to bring into focus, the need for collaboration and partnership with Federal, State and the Local Governments through the elected and appointed office holders from Ikorodu division on the Development Agenda for the various communities across the division .

“The Liaison Group has been given the responsibility to shoulder , with the Government at the three (3) levels, the development agenda for Ikorodu division operating through eight (8) committees set up by the Group with their terms of reference as stated in the working document. They have commenced work and they can only achieve all they have set out to accomplish with your collaboration and partnership.

It is stated in the Holy Bible that , “Seek, ye shall find, knock, it shall be open; ask and it shall be given unto you”. As our representatives in Government at the Federal, State and Local Government levels, please , when we seek, let us find, when we knock, please , open and when we ask, please , ensure we are given by the government.

“In summary, our collaboration and partnership are, hereby, solicited for Ikorodu division to have a fair share of the distribution of resources for development in the mid-term and yearly budgets of the Federal, State and Local Governments. We sincerely need your support in this regard”.

Chief Shoderu also appealed to the honourees to assist EPID financially in achieving is set objectives.

The chairman of the occasion, Senator Ganiu Solomon , in his address, stated that Ikorodu division should be proud of Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba , the newly appointed Chief Judge Of Lagos State, and other honorees while also challenging the elected and appointed representatives to ensure that the objectives of EPID in developing the division is achieved.

“Coming this far, the Liaison Group of the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu division has done very well as a body. I can recall that they launched a working document some months back and they are working towards achieving the stated objectives therein” , Senator Solomon stated.

“We are here as a people to get the support of the Federal, State and Local governments in the overall development of Ikorodu division.

“As we celebrate and honour our representatives today, we want them to go from here with the mindset that EPID’s objectives must be achieved through them wherever they are.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota , who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers in the division , challenged the honorees to toe the path of the founders of the division like the late Chief Theophillus O. S. Benson, SAN, Otunba Adeniran Ogunsanya, SAN, Chief Allison, Chief S. O. Gbadamosi and a host of others whom he said ensured that Ikorodu division was developed commercially, politically and educationally.

According to the highly revered royal father, the likes of Otunba TOS Benson used their positions to open up the division for developments and prosperity.

Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member, Federal House of Representatves and Chairan, House Committee on Defense, Senator (Dr) Olorunimbe Mamora, Minister of Health, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly and representative of Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, Member , Lagos State House of Assembly and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigeria Diaspora Commission.
