Again! Oriwu College Alumni Association Postpones 70th Anniversary

The national body of Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria(OCOSAN) has announced the postponement of the planned week-long activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the existence of the Ikorodu premier college.

The cake cutting ceremony to mark the anniversary was observed amidst interaction between the old and current students  of the College on May 29, 2019,  the exact day the first college in Ikorodu was formed in 1949 by some prominent people in Ikorodu division such as  Late Papa C.O.S Benson aka (Baba Aladura), Mr. Christopher O. Odesanya, Late Alhaji Gafar Andu,  Alhaji S.O.G. Gbadamosi, Chief B.O. Benson  Oba Festus Ogunlewe among others.

However, the celebration, which was initially rescheduled to hold between Saturday, June 8 and Saturday, June 15, 2019, due to the Ramadan fasting, has now been postponed once again .

In a release signed by the OCOSAN National Secretary, Mr Kunle Olambiwonnu, it was stated that a new date and programme outline would be communicated to the general public later in the year.

“The national body of Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN) wishes to inform all Oricolians and the general public that the weeklong anniversary programme earlier slated for June has been postponed.

“This is necessitated by circumstances beyond the control of the association.

“A new date and programme outline will be communicated to the general public later in the year. Executives of all class-sets are enjoined to give this notice widest publicity it deserves.

“We sincerely regret every inconvenience caused and pray you please bear with us. Thanking you for your understanding and cooperation in this regard”.
