The immediate past Commissioner for Physical Planning & Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, has assured the people of Ikorodu that the two major link roads; Agric-Isawo-Arepo and Igbogbo – Bola Tinubu – Igbe roads, will be completed by the incoming administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

While regretting the failure of Eko theatre and Shoprite development to take off, the commissioner assured that the two projects will also see the light of the day in the coming dispensation .

Prince Ogunleye gave this assurance while speaking during the Community Hymn Singing at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Ikorodu, on Sunday, May 26, 2019, which he sponsored to commemorate the successful completion of his tenures as Commissioner for Commerce,  Industry, Cooperatives and Physical Planning & Urban Development respectively .

“Thank God that we got the two major road projects which are going to be completed by the incoming administration after convincing argument at the Executive Council meeting”,  he said.

“It’s not all memos that come to Executive Council that succeed, especially if there is no convincing evidence to get them through.

“We thank God that we were able to get those two projects. The important thing is that it was sealed by the executive council and contract awarded and work has commenced”,  he told guests at the service.

Speaking on compensation for those victims of the demolition yet to be compensated , Prince Ogunleye stated that there is continuity in Lagos State and assured that the incoming administration will pay them.

“On the compensation, some people have gotten theirs. I want to assure those that are yet to get theirs that Lagos is a one-big-family. We thank God that it is this same family on the mandate of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that will still take control of governance in the state in May 2019.

“So, there is a government of continuity and they are going to be paid.

“Those road projects will also be continued by the incoming administration of His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu”.

He stated that when the two road projects are completed, Ikorodu will play an integral role in the Smart City projects in Lagos.

“With those two link road projects in Ikorodu, we are all for a Smart City movement”.

Prince Ogunleye, however, regretted the failure of the outgone administration to commenced the Eko theatre and Shoprite projects in Ikorodu as promised.

He assured that the incoming administration will take up the projects and delivered them for Ikorodu.

“The outstanding ones; Eko theatre and Shoprite development, by the grace of God, will be done. It’s a pity that we missed it this time around”.

Prince Ogunleye also appealed to land owing families to release part to government for developmental purposes.

“I want to urge the people of Ikorodu, especially land owing families, that they should make their lands available for development instead of saying that there is no more land whenever government seek for it.

“Those of us that are still holding lands and delaying the influx of investments to our division, I want to urge that we should cooperate with government.

“The government wants all the five divisions in the state to move to the next level and we (Ikorodu) have to move along with other divisions”.
