The Chief Executive officer of D.W. Realtors Limited and prominent Ikorodu son from the lineage of the legendary Balogun Jaiyesimi, Mr Seun Jaiyesimi, has stated that Ikorodu youths are alive, progressive and determined to bring about development in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

The Chartered Accountant cum Management Consultant, Real Estate and Proper Developer, Oil and Gas Exporter and Importer, made this statement when the executives and members of the Ikorodu Division Youths Movement paid him a courtesy visit in his Lekki house on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

“From your submissions, it shows that our youths are alive, progressive and determined to move Ikorodu to greater height.” he said.

He pledge his assistance to the development of the youths while also accepting to serve as a member of the Board of Trustee of the group.

“I know my duty as a member of any board of trustee.

“From your submissions, I can summarily say that what you want is to promote youth inclusiveness and progress of Ikorodu division.

“It is commendable to organize yourselves for the advancement of the youths and for the development of our society”, he said while commending the mission and vision of the group.

He pledged his maximum support for the group.

“I will give you all the support within my reach”, he stated.

He warned that youths must not be in haste to dislodge the old order but rather should endeavour to learn from them in achieving their aims.

“But I must tell you that it is not possible for you to retire the old men that are still active in polity. Rather, you must be ready to work with them”, he advised.

“You must also be ready to learn from them so that you can be a better leader in future”, he further advised.

“In relating with them, you must learn from the elders’ mistakes and use whatever you might have learnt in correcting the polity.

“There is no sin in wanting something very fast but we must follow things systematically, pragmatically and consciously”.

The management consultant also called for unity in Ikorodu division in order for the division to attain greatness within the comity of communities.

“Unity is very key if we are to move Ikorodu forward. Perhaps, lack of unity is responsible for the lack of development in our division”,  he stated.

“Ikorodu people used to be one big family but how we got to a situation where we don’t want to see one other again still baffles me”.

He challenged the youths to be agents of change by promoting friendliness and cooperation through their actions and conducts.

Mr Jaiyesimi also pledged to use his position and connections to get other Ikorodu sons and daughters in diaspora to contribute to the development of Ikorodu.

He also commended the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi,  and the Chairman, Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, for their efforts in developing the youths and Ikorodu Division in general. .

He appreciated the group for picking him as one of its board members and pledged to work with them in developing Ikorodu.

“I thank you all wholeheartedly for picking me to be on your board. I want to assure you that we will work together towards the achievements of our aims and objectives” he stated.

Comrade Samson Bisiriyu, the Executive Director and member of the Board of Trustees of the Ikorodu Division Youths Movement, promoter of the #NotTooYoungToRun, speaking earlier, stated that the group was formed to reverse the lack of development in the division and place it in its proper position among other divisions in the state.

He stated that the group is also working towards the promotion of synergy among the elected representatives in the division and other political leaders.

Bisiriyu added that the platform is being used to advance the course of the youths individually and collectively.

“We, as a group, are also interested in the development of our individual selves because we have many professionals and graduates among us who are still unemployed while those with employment are still looking for space to advance their professions.

“We also want inclusiveness for our youths in governance. Outside Ikorodu, youths are being given opportunities to represent the people at the State and National Assembly and in other capacities, but it is not same in Ikorodu”, Bisiriyu stated.

He stated that the group is working towards being a platform to bridge the gap between Ikorodu people, home and abroad. .

“We are also committed to using our platform to bridge the gap between those of us at home and our brothers and sisters in Diasporas like you sir.

‘‘We want them to come home regularly and contribute their quotas to the development of our land – Ikorodu. We have so many talents in Ikorodu that are wasting away and we need their assistance in this regard”,  he appealed.

“We want them to help in building, mentoring and developing the youths.

‘”We are seeing people like you as role models to help in nurturing our youths  in Ikorodu into greatness with your enormous experiences , exposures and expertise”.
