The candidate of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Lagos East Senatorial seat, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, on Friday, February 1, 2019, rounded off her senatorial house-to-house campaign in Ikorodu.

The business woman turned politician started her campaign last year moving across the local governments within the Lagos East Senatorial District to canvass electorate to vote for her and her party in the forthcoming elections.

Members of the party converged at Ita-Elewa square where the campaign kicked-off and marched through Ladega street meeting directly with people and seeking their supports for her ambition.

The rally moved through Alhaji Street, Itunmoja and Oba Adenaike Alagbe Street where she and her team, which comprised the PDP Chairman in Ikorodu, Alhaji Taiwo Adekogbe, PDP House of Representatives candidate, Mrs Omotolani Popoola and other party chieftains, visited some important quarters like Ota house, Iselu compound, Awopa shrine and other places where they were offered prayers.

Speaking with THE IMPACT, Princess Oyefusi described her direct contact with the electorate in Ikorodu as encouraging and interesting.

“My take from the campaign is that I felt the love of the people and I have to say a big thank you to my father because he left a big legacy. He left good legacy of development for his people. His good legacy motivated people to identify with me and believe that they are going to experience real development with me being their Senator. I was able to have direct contact with them and garnered their demands and requests.

“It has been very interesting. I got to interact and talk to the people one-on-one. I got to know what their concerns and needs are and where they expect improvement. The most important thing to them is that they got to know, spoke and interacted with the candidate.

“This was very encouraging to them because they have been complaining that most times, they don’t get to know the candidates before voting for them. They are saying that they only see their faces on the campaign posters and that this is the first time that they are seeing a senatorial candidate coming to them.

“ We also tried to assure them that the elections will be peaceful and that they should go out and exercise their rights”.
