Local Foods, Fashion, Drama, Others Take Centre Stage At Ongoing Ikorodu-Oga Carnival

Display of local foods, fashion parade, musical performances among others took the center stage at the Day 4 of the ongoing Ikorodu-Oga Day Carnival 2018.

The event which was held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Olubi Street, Ikorodu, witnessed large turnout of people.

This year’s celebration is themed, “Cultural Values As Catalyst To socio-Economic Development”

Chief Karimu Adekunle Ore, the Apana Osgugbo Abalaye of Ikorodu Kingdom, was conferred with the IKODASS Cultural Heritage Award at the event

The event which was chaired by the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADP), Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi was tagged, “Local Diet, Musical, Drama Fiesta Day” and also featured other activities like hair and fashion contest by members of the Nigeria Union of Tailors (NUT) and NASHCO and the presentation of the Cultural Heritage Award

Speaking at the event, Otunba Segun Abiru, Chairman of the Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) in his welcome address stated:

“I have always said to people that care to listen that of all the indigenous towns in Lagos State, Ikorodu is the most blessed because of its natural and human endowments. One of the endowments that we are proud of which other towns would find difficult to beat is our Cuissine and local drink which have been found to be enriching nutritionally”

“Ikorodu is a town of opportunities where everybody is encouraged to display his.her natural talents. It is a known fract that Ikorodu Division is the haven for most of the Nollywood actors and today, we are going to prove to you that indeed, actors, actresses and musicains abound in this glorious town through their dramatic and musical presentations” he added

Among local foods on display were Afon, Ifoko, Ebiripo, Akara-Oka, Sagidi, Asaro and Egbo among others
