PDP Primaries: Princess Oyefusi, Popoola, Lamina, Aro Emerge Candidates

Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, PDP Lagos East Senatorial candidate

Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, a notable politician who is the daughter of the late revered monarch of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, has emerged as the Lagos East Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Oyefusi, who hails from Ikorodu Local Government Area, polled 8 votes to Yeye Shibajo Adenike from Shomolu LGA who recorded 5 votes.

 

All the opposition parties’ chairmen and some leaders in the senatorial district took part in the primary election which was held in Shomolu on Friday.

 

Princess Oyefusi would be contesting against Hon.Sikiru Osinowo, a four term lawmaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2019 general elections for the Lagos East seat at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.

 

In the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly primaries held at the PDP Secretariat at Olubi street, Ikorodu, also on Friday, Mrs Popoola Omotolani, Mr Mukaila Ajagun Lamina and Mr Abiodun Moshood Aro, emerged as candidates for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Ikorodu Constituency I and II respectively.

Mrs Popoola would be facing the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Babajimi Benson for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency seat while Mr Lamina and Mr Aro would be contesting the Ikorodu Constituency I and II seats against Hon. Agunbiade and Hon. Solaja respectively.

 

Mr Femi Adinlewa, the PDP Publicity Secretary for Ikorodu LG, commended party chieftains and members for the success of the primary elections which he described as peaceful.

 

“Our primaries ware peaceful as against APC primaries which were marred with violence and irregularities”, he stated.
