Mr Oladele Ogunfodunrin, the Campaign Coordinator of Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, an aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency 1 seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has narrowed the contest for the Assembly seat to a battle between his principal and the incumbent, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade.

He made the revelation during the first general meeting of the supporters of Bolowotan team in Ikorodu Local Government which was held at the Ikorodu LG Open Ground at Ita-Elewa, on Wednesday, August 14, 2018.

Bolowotan, the Proprietor of Bolowotan Football Club and a Director on the board of Primesign Board, like Hon. Agunbiade, is aspiring for the Assembly seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the meeting, Ogunfodunrin stated that the contest is simply between the incumbent, Hon. Agunbiade, his principal, Mr Toyin Bolowotan and other aspirants.

“The contest for the Ikorodu Constituency I is majorly between the incumbent, Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan and other aspirants”,Mr Ogunfodunrin stated.

“But we are sure of carrying the day considering our network and Bolowotan’s philanthropic roles.

“He has been doing community and philanthropic duties long before his aspiration and such person can be trusted because he is not doing anything for political gains.

He challenged party members present at the meeting to give maximum supports to Bolowotan and stay steadfast.

“Bolowotan knows those working for him and he shall compensate them when he gets into power. You are going to be his priority and I want you to continue working and propagating him. You shall not have reason to regret your supports because he is a man of his words.

In a chat with reporters after the meeting, Mr Ogunfodunrin stated that the gathering was meant to sensitize their supporters and teeming party members on the outcome of the stakeholders’ meting held at the State Secretariat of APC.

“We are gathered here to sensitise our people and party members about the outcome of the meeting the stakeholders in our party had at the party’s State Secretariat.

“Our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has given a directive that we are going to adopt a direct primary to pick the party candidates in the state. We are here to sensitise them that their membership now counts.

Ogunfodunrin enjoined the supporters to get their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) and the party card to be able to vote in the party’s primary and in the general elections.

“Mr Bolowotan is well endowed and equipped and I do not see the power of incumbency playing any role in the emergence of the candidate for the Constituency 1 seat at the Lagos Assembly because power belong to the people and they are going to decide when the time comes.

Speaking on the direct primary system which the party adopted in Lagos State, he commended the system as giving power to the people.

“Since every member of the party now counts and no more few delegates deciding, the power now resides in the people and that is the beauty of democracy.

Also speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Mondiu Jimoh (Dullar), a chieftain of the party, also enjoined members present to endeavour to get their party’s registration card and the PVC.

He also called for support for Bolowotan  whom he described as a better choice.
