Ikorodu Constituency I Assembly seat: Hon. Agunbiade’s Re-Election Bid Gets Royal Fathers, Political leaders, Constituents’ Supports

The relection bid of Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency I, received a major boost on Thursday, July 9, 2018,  as traditional rulers, political leaders, market people and hundreds of residents publicly adopted his candidature.

 

The adoption of the three term lawmaker’s bid to represent the people of Ikorodu for one more term at the hallow Chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly, took place at the Lagos State House of Assembly Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Ai Royal Hotel, Aga, Ikorodu on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

 

His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, speaking at the event, stated that Hon. Agunbiade has performed credibly well and that he should be supported for the fourth term as the representative of Ikorodu Constituency I in the forthcoming general elections.

 

The Paramount ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, also led the huge crowd at the event to pray for the success of Hon. Agunbiade’s reelection bid.

 

“In Nigeria, Lagos State House of Assembly remains the most vibrant and promising. This shows that we have good leaders steering the ship of the House in person of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and our own son,Hon. Agunbiade,  who is the Majority Leader of the House.

 

“We have witnessed the beginning of this stakeholders’ meeting through which the Assembly formulates and plans its representative activities.

 

“Hon. Agunbiade, indeed, has massive followers and supporters going by the supports he has been enjoying.

“We have been having credible elections in Ikorodu and the coming one would not be different. We, the people of Ikorodu, also want credible candidates.

 

“Hon. Agunbiade has been a credible representative and still performing. We have been losing our political value and we want a strong representative who can regain that.

 

“If you are here today for Hon. Agunbiade and you want him as your representative, I want you to stand up, point at him and support his re-election with prayers, Oba Shotobi appealed.

 

While also adopting the lawmaker, His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashir Sotonwa, Sekumade of  Ipakodo, stated:

 

“Hon. Agunbiade is performing  and he needs our support to continue in office as our representative and we are going to support him for the next dispensation”.

 

The State Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos East Senatorial District, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, while also speaking at the event, stated:

 

“Hon. Agunbiade has brought effective and practical representation  to Ikorodu.

 

“He has contributed in critical areas of our lives. Through his representation, many homes were prevented from demolition; his intervention brought succor to traders whose shops were illegally demolished.

 

“He has been giving back regularly to the constituents through free loans, empowerment and other supports.

 

“He has gone to the Assembly to make his voice known through his contributions on the floor of the house, championing the cause of his people”.

Alhaja Paramole, the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), also confirmed the support of the market men and women for the re-election bid of Hon. Agunbiade.

 

She stated that the lawmaker is enjoying massive support from the traders because of his representation and the support he has been giving to them.

 

“The entire traders in Ikorodu are for Hon. Agunbiade and you can count on our support for your return bid because of what you have been doing for us.

 

“He has been getting back to his people, especially we, the traders, and we are ready to lend him our supports.

 

“As late Mama Mogaji taught us, we are ready to protect our polling booths and you are assured of our votes”.

 

Hon. Princess Folashade Oba, the Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, also commended the quality representation of Hon. Agunbiade.

 

“We are proud of Hon. Agunbiade’s representation. He has been representing the people of Ikorodu very well.

 

“Since our revered Kabiyesis and other leaders have acknowledged his representation, the entire Ikorodu people have spoken”.

 

Alhaji Olu-Owo, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in his own remarks, appealed to the other aspirants to give Hon. Agunbiade another shot at the Assembly seat for Ikorodu to have strong representation.

 

He premised his reason on the effectiveness and practical representation which the lawmaker has been rendering.

 

Hon. Sunday Olajide, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Ondo State House of Assembly, who had led a delegate of Ondo State House of Assembly to understudy the Stakeholders’ Meeting, while also speaking at the event, stated:

“We are happy to be here to learn how the Lagos State House of Assembly is bringing about effective representation to the people of Lagos State.

 

“We can see that the people of Ikorodu are really behind Hon. Agunbiade and they are in support of is re-election.

 

“They are supporting him because he has been working committedly for them and they love him.

Meanwhile, Oba Shotobi, before leaving the event, asked the gathering to signify their support for Hon. Agunbiade’s re-election bid by raising their hands and also enjoined them to pray for him.
