Lagos Commissioner Calls For More Media Partnership With Government

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan has called for a more robust relationship between the mass media and the State Government.
Bamigbetan who spoke in Lagos on Tuesday when he led his management team on courtesy visits to The Nation and Business Day Newspapers explained that the call became imperative in order to effectively educate and enlighten members of the public in government’s policies, programmes and activities.

He opined that his visits were informed by the need to appreciate and commend the newspapers for their efforts in the dissemination of information about government’s activities and also to further cultivate and build on the already existing cordial relationship between the newspapers and the State government.
The Commissioner, who solicited for the co-operation of the media houses, stressed that the State government is a change-oriented administration hence the element of change management is inherent in the system.
He noted that the ongoing challenges being experienced in the State in refuse disposal and management would soon be a thing of the past, recalling that similar daunting challenges were encountered early in the life of the administration but were surmounted.
Bamigbetan opined that the State government remained resolute in its resolve to keep Lagos clean and safe, adding that the Governor Ambode’s administration has the capacity to overcome any obstacle that may hinder it from delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizenry.
Members of the team that accompanied the Commissioner on the media visit include Special Adviser, Information and Strategy, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kofoworola Awobamise and Directors from the Ministry.
