Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) has made the construction of N200millio ultra modern town hall as its target for 2014 Igbogbo Day Celebrations.
This was revealed at a press conference on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Adeboruwa Palace, Igbogbo which flag-off the a-week long programmes planned for the celebrations. Other projects to be executed are provision of lights on major streets like Oba Omolaja Ogunlewe Road, Adeboruwa Street and Obafemi Awolowo Way and the rehabilitation of ring roads in Igbogbo township.
In his speech at the programme, Mr Kola Ogunkoya, president Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) charges Igbogbo people to be part of development of he ancient town and bury their differences for common good.
“What make this great is our shared hopes, aspirations, beliefs, culture and commitment to improve Igbogbo and our immediate enviroments. I implore all of you to relax and have good time throughout the week long celebrations.”
“Again, we implore all sons and daughters of Igbo to be part of the development of our fatherland. We shall continue to appeal and impress on you to show interests in the affairs of our community. At this junction, I seize this opportunity to appeal to all to sink our differences and join IDEA in uplifting Igbogboland. By doing this, our town will be great” Mr Ogunkoya appealed
Among listed programmes listed for this year celebrations are Woro/Rally and Iwure/Hoisting of flag/Release of Dove, Saturady, November 22, 2014; Inter-Street Footbal (semi-final 1), Saturday, November 23, 2014; Free Medical Service I, Education Phase II and Inter-Street Football (semi-final II), Sunday, November 24, 2014; Educational & Final Cultural Programmes, Monday, November 25, 2014 and Grand Finale & Cultural Night on Saturday, November 29, 2014 among others.
