Residents of Oriokuta community in Imota Local Council Development Area are witnessing a renewed sense of hope, as the administration of Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele has given Oriokuta Primary Healthcare Centre, a major upgrade, aimed at revitalising grassroots healthcare delivery and improved access to quality medical services within the community.
According to the council authorities, the comprehensive renovation project which is nearing completion is focused on transforming the once dilapidated facility into a modern healthcare centre capable of meeting the growing needs of residents. The facelift reflects a broader commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery and improving quality service delivery across the locality.

In rehabilitating the centre, the council has embarked on structural rehabilitation, replacement of worn-out roofing, repainting of buildings, and installation of modern fittings to enhance patient comfort and operational efficiency. Contractors handling the project have maintained a steady pace, with visible progress recorded across different sections of the health centre.
In addition to the structural facelift, plans are in place to equip the centre with essential drugs, modern medical equipment, improved sanitation systems, and solar power to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. These upgrades are expected to elevate the standard of healthcare services available to the people upon completion of the project significantly.

The council officials that embarked on inspection recently expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far and reiterated the administration’s determination to see the project completed within the stipulated time frame while maintaining high construction standards.
Speaking on the development, the Baale of Oriokuta Community, Chief Adebayo Seriki commended the council for prioritising healthcare infrastructure. He described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it would help reduce the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances to access basic medical services.

Residents of the community have expressed their appreciation for the facelift of the PHC by the Benson Ayodele administration. They also called for sustained investment in the health sector, describing the ongoing renovation as a crucial step toward addressing longstanding challenges in primary healthcare delivery.
