In a remarkable show of support for education, the six Executive Chairmen in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, have jointly presented a brand new official vehicle to the Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo.

‎The presentation ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Ijede Council Secretariat with the six chairmen – Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (Ikorodu West LCDA), Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (Imota LCDA), Hon. Ibrahim Olawale Apanishile (Ikorodu North LCDA), Hon. Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA) and Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba (Ijede LCDA) in attendance.

The sleek Toyota Highlander was handed over officially to Alhaji Odumbo, the Education Secretary, in recognition of his dedication and outstanding leadership in driving basic education development across the division.

Speaking on behalf of the six chairmen, Prince Adedayo A. Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, described the donation as a collective effort to strengthen the education sector.

“Education remains the bedrock of our community’s progress. Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo has shown exceptional commitment since his appointment. We, the six council chairmen of Ikorodu Division, have decided to support him with this official vehicle to make his movement and supervision of primary schools across the local government areas more effective,” Prince Ladega said.

‎The chairmen stressed that the presentation reflects their shared commitment to working closely with the LGEA to deliver quality education to pupils in public primary schools.

Alhaji Taiwo Abiodun Odumbo, who was visibly delighted, expressed deep appreciation to the chairmen.

‎“This kind gesture from the entire Ikorodu Division council chairmen is not just a personal gift to me, but a major boost to the education system in Ikorodu. It will improve my ability to supervise schools, coordinate programmes, and implement policies effectively across the six local councils. I assure you that this vehicle will be used diligently in the service of our children and the education sector,” he stated.

The Education Secretary also praised the chairmen for their continued support to the education sector, including infrastructure development and the recent relaunch of Uniformed Voluntary Organisations (UVOs) in primary schools, aimed at promoting discipline and good values among pupils.

Stakeholders present at the event described the initiative as an excellent example of synergy between local government leadership and the education authority. They noted that such collaboration is essential for the successful implementation of the Lagos State Government’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda, especially in the education pillar.

‎The presentation comes at a time when the Ikorodu Division is experiencing renewed emphasis on grassroots development, with the council chairmen giving priority to 5education, health, and infrastructure.
