-Scholars urge faithful to uphold Holy Month lessons

The grand finale of the Ramadan Lecture Series organised by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders and the faithful across Ikorodu Division, and the entire Lagos East Senatorial District, as clerics urged Muslims to sustain the spiritual lessons of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division and Chief Imam of Ikorodu Central Mosque, Seifudeen Ademoritan Ayinla Olowooribi, described Ramadan as a period rich in spiritual blessings and called on Muslims to remain steadfast in the recitation of the Holy Quran and acts of devotion.
Chief Imam Olowooribi also applauded Senator Abiru for his consistent support for Islam and religious activities within the Lagos East Senatorial District.

“Senator Abiru has shown that he is truly a worthy son of his father through his support for Islam. He is doing good in Islam. God hates ingratitude; therefore, we must always be grateful for the good things he is doing. We all know how this venue (Ikorodu Eid Ground) used to be before he transformed it,” the respected cleric said.
Similarly, His Eminence Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala Ajagbemokeferi As-Samadaani, the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, commended Senator Abiru for sustaining the Ramadan lecture initiative, noting that the programme has strengthened unity among Muslims and fostered deeper spiritual reflection within the community.
“He is strengthening bonds among the Muslim community and the people in general. May Almighty God grant him a long life,” the cleric said.

Delivering the keynote lecture, the Chief Imam of NASFAT Islamic Centre, Sheikh Imam Alli Atunrase, highlighted the deeper spiritual and moral benefits of Ramadan.
According to him, fasting helps Muslims cultivate the fear of Almighty Allah, encourages empathy for the less privileged and strengthens the spirit of generosity among believers.
He urged Muslims to sustain these virtues beyond the Ramadan season, stressing that the true essence of fasting lies in personal transformation and improved relationships with fellow human beings.

Representing Senator Abiru at the event, Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, conveyed the senator’s goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah. He noted that the Ramadan Lecture Series was conceived as a platform for spiritual enlightenment and communal harmony across Lagos East Senatorial District.
“This is a solemn period and we are gathered for spiritual uplifting through the teachings of our revered scholars. The initiative continues to bring the entire division, Lagos East District together, fostering reunion, peace and unity among our people,” he said.
Dr. Ibikunle further urged Muslims to use the opportunity of the holy month to pray for the country and rally support for leaders at all levels of government.

He called on the faithful to offer prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other elected and appointed officials, asking God to grant them wisdom and strength to lead the nation towards peace and prosperity.
The prayer session was led by the Coordinator of the Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA), Imam Abdulhafeez Abojututu, who offered special supplications for President Tinubu, Senator Abiru, and other leaders and the continued unity and progress of Nigeria.
The Ramadan Lecture Series sponsored by Senator Abiru has become a major religious gathering, attracting prominent Islamic scholars in Lagos East Senatorial District, who provide guidance on faith, morality and community development.
As the programme drew to a close, attendees expressed appreciation to the senator for sustaining the initiative and prayed for continued peace, unity and prosperity within the Muslim Ummah and the nation at large.
