‎-As local legislators set to mobilise for President Tinubu

Honourable Councillor Jessica Enitan Oba, Council Leader, Ikorodu West LCDA Legislative Arm and Vice Chairman, Lagos East Councilors Forum

Leaders of councillors across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos East Senatorial District on Wednesday converged at the Ikorodu West LCDA Legislative Chamber for the group’s inaugural meeting.

‎At the meeting, the host Council Leader, Honourable Councillor Jessica Enitan Oba, was confirmed as the Vice Chairman, Lagos East Councillors Forum.

Councillors also established a structure to support their party in its quest to give President Bola Tinubu massive support for his re – election in 2027.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA, in his welcome address to the honourable councillors emphasised the strategic importance of the Forum in strengthening grassroots governance and deepening legislative effectiveness across the Lagos East Senatorial District.

Councilor Oba delivered the speech on behalf of her Executive Chairman.

During deliberations at the parley, discussions centered on enhancing effective representation at the ward level and reinforcing collaboration with the Executive Arm of local governments to ensure impactful service delivery. Participants unanimously agreed on the necessity of complementing executive leadership through responsible legislation, oversight, and community engagement.

As the closest elected representatives to the grassroots, the Council Leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and resolved to work toward securing a resounding victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections collectively.

Councillor Tunde James, the Council Leader Shomolu LG was appointed to spearhead the committee saddled with planning a massive mobilisation of councillors across Lagos East and grassroots people for President Tinubu’s re – election.

Sub -committee heads were also appointed for sub- committees like Media, Logistics/Planning, Mobilisation, Finance, and Welfare/Entertainment among others.

‎Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Oba emphasised the important roles played by the councillors at the grassroots level especially in supporting the local council structure which caters for the people in the grassroots.

‎She said that through the Forum, councillors exchanged ideas, advanced the development of legislative activities, deepened democracy and supported one another.

‎On the establishment of a structure to support President Tinubu’s re – election, Councillor Oba said:

‎”This is all about the symbol of our party, our father, mentor and the President that has truly reformed and empowered the local government administration in Nigeria and the only way to appreciate him is to mobilise the grassroots for him and give him massive support come 2027.

‎”It is also our way of supporting our great party in a lovely manner to achieve its objective because we are all beneficiaries of the party.

“So, it’s on these bases that we have resolved to put in place a structure to support the party’s system. We intend to carry along critical stakeholders within the party whom we will be paying visits soon.”

The council leader commended the Ikorodu West LCDA chairman, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju for his administration’s support for councillors.
