Lent: Ijede Council Boss Charges Christians On Sacrifice, Charity

The Executive Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has urged Christians to engage in sacrifice and charity in fulfilment of Jesus Christ’s command, during the period of 40 days of Lent.

‎The Holy month commences today.

‎In a statement signed to welcome the new month, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo- Alogba, emphasised that discipline, strong character and sharing of love to others as principles that must be exemplified during the period. 

‎‎”As we commence the solemn season of Lent, I extend my warmest regards to our Christian brothers and sisters in Ijede LCDA and around the world.

‎”Lent is a journey of sober reflection, self-denial, and spiritual renewal. Following the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, let us use this time to discipline our desires, strengthen our character, and deepen our commitment to the values of love and truth.”

“In the spirit of this season, I urge us to remember that true sacrifice is incomplete without charity. As we fast, let us also reach out to the less privileged in our communities, ensuring that our abstinence leads to the sustenance of others.”

‎She also charged Christians to pray for peace and progress of Ijede LCDA.

‎”Let us offer fervent prayers for the peace and progress of Ijede LCDA. May our collective sacrifices during this period serve as a catalyst for the total healing and prosperity of our dear nation, Nigeria.

‎”I pray that this season brings divine grace, renewed strength, and abundant blessings to our households. “
