The Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Tuesday, led a high-level council delegation to appear before the House Committee on Public Accounts (Local Government) at the ongoing statewide audit exercise being conducted by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The exercise, which covers the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state, is aimed at strengthening accountability at the grassroots level, promoting transparency, encouraging the prudent management of public funds, and identifying any lapses in council financial records.
The committee, chaired by Hon. (Prince) Nureni Akinsanya, representing Mushin Constituency I, stated during the session that the audit exercise is based on the examination of the 2023 Report of the Auditor-General for Local Governments.

He added that the exercise forms a critical part of the constitutional oversight functions of the Lagos State House of Assembly, noting that at the end of the process, the committee’s findings and recommendations will be submitted to the House for further legislative action.
Hon. Benson, while speaking after appearing before the committee, reaffirmed that Imota LCDA remains committed to due process, accountability, and good governance, in line with the administration’s drive for transparency and responsible service delivery to the residents of Imota LCDA.
Members of the Imota LCDA delegation present at the session included the Vice Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; the Council Manager, Mr. Olusegun Akinyemi; the Council Treasurer, High Chief Onifade Oluyemi; the Council Engineer; Heads of Departments and Units; and other senior management staff, all of whom provided clarifications where necessary.

Other local governments present at the exercise on Tuesday, were Agbado-Oke-Odo, Igando-Ikotun, Oshodi-Isolo, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Somolu, Amuwo-Odofin, Ojokoro, Egbe-Idimu, Mosan-Okunola, Bariga, Lekki, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Iru-Victoria Island, Agoyi-Ketu, and Isolo.
