The Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Monday, received the Lagos State One-Day Governor, Miss Esther Etiyemonu, the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Dorcas Awoyemi and the One-Day Secretary to the State Government, Miss Jumai Olaide Salami, during an official visit to the council secretariat in Imota.
The visit formed part of activities lined up for the One-Day Governor’s engagements across key institutions in the state, an initiative designed to promote leadership, academic excellence, and civic responsibility among students.
Miss Esther Etiyemonu, a student of Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta was honoured in that capacity as the winner of the 2025 State Spelling Bee Competition.

Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, while welcoming the delegation, described the visit as a proud moment for the council and a clear reflection of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, and educational excellence.
He commended the initiative, noting that it offers students a rare opportunity to experience the workings of government, develop leadership skills at an early stage, and remain inspired to strive for academic distinction and responsible citizenship.
The chairman stated that his administration remains committed to policies and programmes that support the educational advancement and overall development of young people in Imota LCDA. He added that the council would continue to partner with the state government on initiatives that encourage excellence, discipline, and innovation among students.

Hon. Benson further emphasised that education remains a central pillar of his administration’s “Hi-SEE” transformation agenda, noting that the council has consistently invested in school infrastructure, learning materials, and given support to programmes which create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Speaking during the visit, the 21st Lagos State One-Day Governor, Miss Esther Etoyemonu, expressed gratitude to the council chairman and the entire Imota LCDA leadership for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. She described the experience as both inspiring and educational, adding that it had deepened her understanding of governance and public service.
One -Day Governor Esther Etiyemonu encouraged students across the state to remain focused on their academic pursuits and uphold the values of discipline, hard work, and integrity, while always striving for excellence.

According to her, “Education remains the key to unlocking opportunities and building a brighter future.”
The One-Day Deputy Governor and the Student SSG also commended the leadership of Imota LCDA for its commitment to grassroots development, particularly in education and youth-focused initiatives, noting that such efforts contribute significantly to the progress of the community.
In his remarks, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, applauded the chairman for his laudable initiatives in education, infrastructure, and youth development. He noted that the young leaders were all from Education District II, adding that such programmes contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education in the district.

Similarly, the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Taiwo Odumbo, congratulated the One-Day Governor, Deputy Governor, and Student SSG for their outstanding academic achievements. He urged them to continue to uphold the spirit of excellence and remain worthy ambassadors of the district and the state.
Among the dignitaries present were the Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, CFR, Olufoworesete II, represented by the Olisa of Imota, Chief Olumuyiwa Adebogun; the Director-General of Education Quality Assurance, Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa; Director of Special Programmes, Mr. Akeem Agbabiaka; and Director Kehinde Ogunlana.
