The Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, intensified efforts to promote public health and restore environmental sanity through a targeted intervention aimed at evacuating refuse from identified environmental blackspots across Ijede.

‎The exercise which held yesterday, was carried out by the Department of Environmental Health Services at Oke-Eletu Third Powerline, focused on clearing long-standing refuse blackspots that pose serious risks to residents’ well-being.

‎‎The intervention forms part of the administration’s sustained commitment to promoting a cleaner, healthier community.

‎Representing the council chairman at the exercise, Honourable Councillor Temilade Akinyemi, the councillor representing Ward D, expressed council’s concern at the way and manner some residents indiscriminately dispose refuse.

‎”The council leadership is deeply concerned about the increasing trend of indiscriminate waste disposal across the LCDA.”

‎She conveyed a stern appeal and warning from the Council Chairman, Hon.  Gbadebo-Alogba, that anyone found engaging in unauthorised refuse dumping would be sanctioned in accordance with environmental regulations.

‎Similarly, the Head of Environmental Health Services, Mrs Christiana Olorunsola, sensitised residents and shop owners on the dangers of indiscriminate refuse dumping and appealed to residents of Oke-Eletu to desist from such practices.

‎She urged community members to partner with the council in building and sustaining a cleaner, healthier environment.

‎Recall that the council has in recent times been embarking on clearing refuse across the wards and de-silting the drainage system.
