The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), has called for the continued preservation of the traditional and cultural values of Imota.
Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele gave the charge while congratulating the Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty (Oba) Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, FCA, CFR, traditional institutions and residents of Imota LCDA on the occasion of the 2026 Asa Festival in Imota.
He emphasised the festival started on Wednesday in Imota, which is a celebration of man on delicate stilt sticks – an ancient deity and play, as an important part of Imota traditional festivals.

”I heartily felicitate with His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, CFR, the Ranodu of Imota, Olufoworesete II, as well as the respected chiefs and traditional custodians on the celebration of the 2026 Asa Festival — the iconic festival of the man on delicate stilt sticks.
”The Asa Festival remains a unique and revered cultural heritage that celebrates the ancient art of traditional stilt-walking and the rich cultural identity of the people of Imota LCDA.
”The festival showcases remarkable balance, strength, and acrobatic performances, while serving as a symbol of community identity, unity, social cohesion, and cultural pride among the people.”

While calling for the preservation and promotion of the festival, Hon. Benson Ayodele, emphasised needs for youths and the future generations to embrace and ensure its sustenance.
”As this important socio-cultural festival is celebrated in our beloved community, I urge residents of Imota LCDA to continue to honour, preserve, and promote the values and traditions that define us.
”I wish the custodians of Asa, the people of Atere Quarter, and all residents a peaceful, colourful, and successful Asa Festival, while calling on our youths and future generations to learn, respect, and uphold the noble traditions of their forebears.
