Desilting and carting away of refuse by the Ijede LCDA

As part of sustained efforts to promote a cleaner environment and mitigate flooding, the administration of the Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has continued with the desilting of drainage channels and carting away of collected silts,

The exercise which took place at the weekend witnessed the council clearing the drainage at Sholumade Adekefun Street, Ijede, by removing accumulated debris, sludge, and waste materials from blocked drainage channels to ensure the free flow of water.

Inspecting the site, the Head of the Environment Department, Mrs. Christiana Olurunsola, commended the Chairman for the timely intervention. She further assured residents that the desilting exercise would be extended to other parts of the community as part of a continuous programme.

Residents of the affected area also expressed their appreciation.

Mr. Solomon Kabir, a resident of Sholumade Adekefun Street reacting to the development said: “This desilting work has brought great relief to us. The drainage was completely filled with debris, but with this intervention, we are hopeful for a lasting solution.”
