Aftermath of the presentation of instruments of office to the new Alajede of Ijede Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Hon.) Adefarasin Saheed Hassan, Ajanaku II, the Lagos State Government has charged stakeholders and the generality of the residents of ljede, on the need to embrace dialogue and cooperation to end the multiple legal battles that have plagued the community.
The secessionist struggles, which are still prevailing, have been on for 13 years.
Honourable Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, who represented the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo -Olu, at the presentation of staff of office and the certificate of recognition to the new Alajede at the Ijede LCDA secretariat on Friday, made the appeal.

“Now that the crown has been placed, it is time for swords to be sheathed, grievances laid to rest, and brotherhood restored. Kabiyesi, history remembers great kings not merely for how they ascended the throne, but for how they unified their people thereafter.
“I, therefore, appeal to you to bring everyone together—those who supported you, those who opposed you, and those who stood neutral, so that old wounds may heal.
“Let dialogue replace legal battles, and restore the collective strength of all sons and daughters of Ijede, for the progress of the kingdom. As a government, this administration remains firmly committed to ensuring rapid and equitable development across our communities, though, the agenda aims to make Lagos State a true twenty-first-century economy”.

He also enjoined Oba Adefarasin to support and work with the government at all levels, while also charging residents to also embrace peace and rally round the new Kabiyesi to achieve development.
“In this regard, I urge you, Kabiyesi, to collaborate closely with the government at the local, state, and federal levels.
“While consolidating existing grassroots development efforts, a united traditional institution working hand in hand with the government will accelerate development and deepen peace at the community level.
“To the good people of Ijede Kingdom, let me seize this moment to remind you that the development you desire will be quicker and more visible when you rally round your new Oba, support his efforts, embrace peace, set aside past disagreements, and commit yourselves to unity and progress for the sake of present and future generations.

“As I conclude, let me, once again, assure you that this administration will continue to support traditional rulers and remain resolute in advancing grassroots development across Lagos State.
“Kabiyesi, I congratulate you once again. I congratulate the good people of Ijede Kingdom. I wish you a reign that reflects peace, unity, and enduring prosperity”.
