His Royal Highness, Oba Taiwo Adebunmi Bamgbose, the Wolagunshen and the Gbadewolu Akoko, the Onimushin of Imushin, Remo Land, and his newly installed Olisa, Chief (Sir) Dr. Olusoji Alfred Onafowokan, KCW, have expressed their appreciation on behalf of Imushin community to the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, for facilitating the ongoing construction of Agbede/Ita -Oluwo Road.
The road passed through Imushin Kingdom which lies between Lagos and Ogun State, sharing boundaries with Ogijo, Agbede, Ishawo and Arepo communities.
In his royal speech at his third coronation anniversary, Oba Bamgbose, said that his kingdom which comprises of 18 communities is being adversely affected in terms of development being a border town between Lagos and Ogun states.
He, however, commended Rep.Jimi Benson for his intervention in constructing the major road that passed through his kingdom.
“Although we have many challenges when we talk of social amenities as you too can see, but the one that is paramount to us now is our major road which is Imushin Road that starts from Ita -Oluwo Junction straight down to Elepete Imushin community, the road is in a highly deplorable state and it is really affecting the social and economic activities of this great community.
“I will like to appreciate our honourable representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the person of Hon. Babajimi Benson who has really tried to help us on the construction of our roads in Igbo -Olomu axis likewise he has started the road from Agbede axis that leads to Ajegunle community in Imushin towards the Ita -Oluwo Junction. God bless you our Honourable Jimi Benson,” Oba Bamgbose said.
Speaking with THE IMPACT after his installation, Chief ‘Soji Onafowokan, the Olisa of Imushin, who said that he’s not surprised the federal lawmaker is embarking on the road, also emphasised that when completed, the road would turnaround the socio – economic lives of the Imushin Kingdom.
“I am not surprised at all, because Hon. Jimi Benson has been driving the opening up and linking major roads to inner ones in Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the past few years and he has cut -across the constituency. I am also aware that he has cordial relationship with members of the House of Representatives from Ogun State.
“We are also benefitting from his quality and people-oriented representation because part of our kingdom falls under his constituency which is Ikorodu in Lagos State and we are really appreciative of him.
“The road will not only open up Imushin, it will also encourage more people to move into our community, turn into a major passage way for people coming from Ogun State to link the Lagos Road and also for those from Lagos to link Shagamu. By implications, it would increase our economic and social values,” the newly installed Olisa remarked.
Chief Onafowokan, also appealed to Rep. Benson to also consider residents and Imushin community for other interventions like schools, sporting facility, market construction and empowerment/support for residents.
