-Reiterates clamour for “Ikorodu for Governor”

The Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kabir Shotobi, has again called for support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu, especially his reform agenda.
While assuring the citizenry that the security situation is improving, Oba Shotobi, also enjoined Nigerians to pay their taxes to enjoy the government’s presence.
The royal father who made the appeal during the visit to the General Hospital Ikorodu, on Wednesday, January 1, again, reiterated his stance on Ikorodu for Governor come 2027.

“My message for Nigerians for the New Year is about the economy of this country. The President is doing his best, and the Renewed Hope Agenda is really going on. Let us give him the needed support.
“The insecurity that we are experiencing is temporary, it will vanish soon. When we had the Badoo issue in Ikorodu, we did what we have to do to put a stop to it. Even our boys (former cultists) that were engaged in retaliatory killings have stopped. Therefore, it is just a matter of time for the insecurity to vanish.
Kabiyesi also informed that the federal government has established Girl’s Academy in Ikorodu and emphasised that things are turning around for good.

Speaking on the tax reform, Oba Shotobi said: “Well, I am not a tax reformer, but I believe if you want to get something from Mr President, and you cannot defend what you have in hand, he will ask you so many questions, because he is a very clever man. Once you are ready to defend it, you are good to go.
Kabiyesi also appealed to Nigerians to have patience with the administration, “Let’s have patience, patience is the answer and we will get there. We will get what we want in Nigeria. We are not going to wait for any external body to tell us what to do, we all know where our shoes pinch. We have to manage ourselves, our resources, and will we get there,” Oba Shotobi said.
The Ayangbure emphasised his stance that Ikorodu must produce the next Governor in the state in 2027 and urged residents to get their voters’ cards in preparation to proof that Ikorodu has large voting population.

“I am still clamouring that the next Governor of Lagos State must come from Ikorodu. That is our wish, but the power that be will not just give you what you want or deserve, unless you ask for it and we will continue to ask, beg and struggle for it.
“What we need to achieve this is support; support from our residents with their voters’ cards because that is what we will use to fight and if by the end of the day, they pick one of our sons in Ikorodu, it is still the voters’ card that we will use for the election.
“We need the voters’ card to vote for any of our sons that is picked as the Governor and there is renumeration attached to any large number of votes. Any community that records the largest number of voters’ cards will get N1million while any polling unit with the highest number of votes gets N5million.

“That is what APC as a party said, but if at the end of the day, there is a problem as regards paying that money, I, Kabir Adewale Shotobi will pay the money,” Oba Shotobi assured Ikorodu electorates.
