LASUSTECH Records First Set Of Student Chartered Accountants

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has celebrated a historic milestone with the emergence of its first set of student Chartered Accountants.

‎Three Accounting students of the institution successfully completed the November 2025 ICAN Professional Examination, earning the prestigious Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) designation, while still undergraduates.

‎The honorees – Oyediran Mercy Abimifoluwa (Matric No: 220201010074), a 400-level student with a CGPA of 4.71, Muhammed Muizat Opeyemi (Matric No: 2202021010186), a 400-level student with a CGPA of 4.53, and Bakare Aaliyah Omolara (Matric No: 230201010080), a 300-level student with a CGPA of 4.68, were received by the LASUSTECH Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, in his office on Tuesday.

He congratulated them on attaining the feat and setting a pace for others.

‎ “We are very glad to have you all. It is a singular honour to have our students who are yet to graduate, become Associate Chartered Accountants. Please, note that when you are qualified as an associate, far more is expected of you.

“Remember, the world is at your feet, you can make what you want from it. The history you made today, no one can take it from you”, he said.

The Dean of the College of Applied Social Sciences, Prof. Olumuyiwa Olamade, also described the achievement as “a testimony to the purposeful vision of LASUSTECH, and a powerful reminder that excellence is both nurtured and celebrated here”.

‎Each of the students was presented with a letter of commendation, and a cash reward of ₦250,000 by the university, to encourage them further.

‎In a congratulatory message to the Vice-Chancellor, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Akibu Sule, described the development as “a strong validation for a new university. Congratulations to all of us. We wish you all well”.
