-Lawmaker urges them to keep in touch

The beneficiaries of job/employment facilitation with the Lagos State Government, by the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), have commended the lawmaker for the gesture, describing it as life – changing opportunities.
About 50 beneficiaries across the Ikorodu Constituency II, who were placed in several Ministries, Departments and Agencies by the lawmaker, recalled their lives before and after securing the job, at a dinner held on Sunday, at the AMA Hotels and Suites, Abule Eko in ljede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and organised by Hon. Aro, to familiarize with them.
The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to keep in touch with him.
Some of the beneficiaries that spoke said that beyond issuing recommendation letters, Hon. AMA often provided them with transportation support, when they visited his office to collect their letters, which he personally followed up with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen, and Heads of Agencies, to ensure that his constituents got the employment.

Hon. AMA, stating the purpose for the dinner, said that the need to know the beneficiaries in person, and to let them know that he is still fully with them, know their challenges, open channels of communication to know about opportunities in their place of employment necessitated the organisation of the event, while charging them to be good ambassadors.
“I feel that there is a need to interface with you, and build confidence in you.
“This is to assure that I am still with you, and that we have not abandoned you to your fate after assisting you to secure employment. I have not left you because I am also a public servant, and I understand the bureaucracy and challenges within the system.

“I want to assure you that I am with you, and I will continue to protect your interest since you got your job through me. So, always let me know whatever you are facing in your various places of work. Since I am your representative, I should be able to resolve whatever challenges that you may have”, he said.
Hon. Aro, also charging the beneficiaries said that, “Since you work in a particular place, you should have necessary information like employment opportunities which are not usually advertised. I am enjoining you to always bring this to my attention so as to assist other people, and give them opportunities like you are having.
He also charged them to always let him know whenever there is an opportunity to improve their capacity or facilitate their promotion which they are duly qualified for, such as local and international trainings.

The state lawmaker also warned the state employees on the need to have a good attitude and be professional in their job.
“There is also a need to urge you that there is a need for you to be well -behaved and have a good attitude at your place of work because, once you misbehaved, it can easily be traced back to whoever recommended you for the job.
“I implore you to manage yourselves very well and be conscious of protecting your name and mine too as the person that secured the job for you, because I have a good relationship with every Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, Chairman and Head of Agency. I am always professional in everything that I do and exhibit good characters. That is why they always accord me respect.

“You have to be disciplined in whatever that you do and be of good character, because if you are not, I will not be able to recommend you for promotion or any other opportunity in your place of work”, he charged.
“Show good character, be respectful, diligent and be time conscious. These are some of the attributes that will earn you promotion”, he added.
He also educated them on financial management to sustain themselves.
Mrs Bankole Kafilat Dorcas, who has been residing in Abule -Eko in Ijede LCDA in the last 15 years and secured a job at the Ministry of Education about three months ago courtesy of the lawmaker, in her remarks, said that:.

“I met AMA through one of his Personal Assistants, Kabiru Rasaq to be precise and since then, it has been a change of life and destiny in a way. Meeting AMA gave me assurances that my future is secured.
“Getting the job through AMA, gave me hope and job security. I am joyous about the job. Though, I was working before, but I could not see any future in it. But with this work that I just secured through AMA, I can see opportunities and secured future.
“I have not even met him personally, and I am here to do that and personally thank him. I am getting beautiful by the day because of the AMA. Thank you and thank you sir”.
Another beneficiary, Mr Oladipupo Gbenga, the Coordinator of AMA’s Volunteers since when the lawmaker was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and also the Coordinator of AMA Smile Team in Imota, who is now working with the Ministry of Finance as an Auditor, said that his life has been experiencing transformation since he got the job from him.

“I am the number one beneficiary among those that have secured jobs through AMA. I actually got the job three months after his assumption of the office as a lawmaker.
“I am supposed to be one of his legislative aides but he said that he has another plan for me which is a career thing. Today, I am very grateful for that opportunity. I will always be grateful for that.
“The day that I got the job, he was the one that called to inform me about the job. They had actually called me but l didn’t know, because I was busy with an assignment that he gave me. He called me to inform me about it and I was at the commission the next day. I marveled at what I got, because of the warm reception that I received from the Chairman of the commission”.

Speaking about his life before the job and after, Gbenga said that:
“Before getting this job, I had been writing applications for jobs. Although, I had a job that I was doing as the pioneer cyber café operator in Imota, and while technology was advancing, that brought a lot of challenges to café, and since I have my certificates, I decided to search for a job.
“I had applied to Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LNSC) just to make ends meet, and when we went to their office in Ikorodu, to submit my credentials, I was beaten in the name of drilling, and I wept when they were not even giving me a job. Unfortunately for me, I did not get the job.
“But thanks to AMA for today, because the suffering did not last forever with AMA fulfilling his pledge of ensuring that l am fully employed. I wish I could show you my picture from about 4 or five years ago and compare it with the way I am looking today.

“There has been a physical transformation, because of the job that I secured through AMA. Ever since I got this job, my life has been transformed.
“Another thing is that I have been opportuned to pursue my professional certificates in accounting, because I now have concentration because of the job and I only have two stages to be chartered. I have been able to restrategised my life and now pursue my career”, he said while acknowledging AMA’s efforts in getting him a job.
Mrs Ademola Mariam, a resident of Oke -Eletu in Ijede LCDA whom AMA also secured a job for at the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), in May 2025, said that she had been pursuing the job for many years unsuccessfully before the intervention of Hon. AMA.
“Before now, I had tried to secure a job as a teacher for a long time. I applied to TESCOM in 2021, but was unsuccessful. However, the opportunity finally came when I met Mr Biola (one of AMA’s aides) whom I interrupted while discussing job opportunities with someone. So, I got the slot from AMA through him.

“Before now, I worked in a private school which is very good but I wanted a job security which comes with government work. That was why I have been in the pursuit of getting one”.
She thanked the lawmaker, and prayed to God to continue to strengthen him, because, according to her, AMA provided the connection that she needed to get the job.
In appreciation of AMA’s impact through the job opportunities given to them, the beneficiaries presented him a giant framed photograph and a hamper as token of their gratitude.
Members of the AMA Sports committee also presented him another big frame to appreciate the opportunity the lawmaker afforded them to organise his sporting events.
Attendees at the dinner were well entertained with sumptuous meals and drinks.
