The Lagos State Government has honored the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) with an Award of Recognition for its outstanding commitment to zero tolerance against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH).
The award, presented on Friday, was conferred on the University during the official launch of the Lagos State SEAH Policy for Tertiary Education Institutions.
In a statement by the institution, it stated that the award was presented to her for championing zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment and for its proactive role in supporting the new SEAH policy framework.
The presentation was received on behalf of the University by Prof. Olubunmi Agbebi, Dean of the College of Agriculture, and Prof. Abimbola Orukotan, Dean of the College of Basic Sciences.
The Lagos State SEAH Policy sets out clear standards and accountability measures for all tertiary institutions, aiming to create safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environments where students and staff are protected from exploitation and harassment. LASUSTECH’s recognition highlights its leadership in embedding these values into campus life and governance.
Over the years, LASUSTECH has consistently demonstrated its commitment through awareness campaigns, preventive structures, and disciplinary measures that reinforce its stance against harassment. This award positions the University as a model institution for others across Lagos State.
The University Governing Council was pleased with the award by the state government.
The recognition marks a new era in tertiary education governance in Lagos, signaling the government’s resolve to ensure that every student can pursue education free from fear of exploitation or abuse.
