The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) has done it again by delivering a brand new 500KVA transformer to the Oko Ito community in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) .
The lawmaker delivered the transformer on Thursday, in fulfilment of his electoral promises to the residents of the community who received the yuletide gift with cheers.
In a statement by Razaq Kabiru Babatunde, the Media Director/Personal Assistant to Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun, he said that the residents of the community have endured months of darkness due to the bad state of their transformer which defied all efforts for repair. This, he said, necessitated the intervention of his boss.

“The residents of Oko Ito Phase One had endured a long and painful period of darkness after their old transformer became irreparably damaged. The blackout lingered for months, crippling daily life, weakening local businesses, and raising serious security concerns.
“Despite their limited resources, the resilient members of the CDA made several efforts to salvage the situation, including contributing personal funds in an attempt to repair or replace the faulty transformer. Sadly, all such efforts proved unsuccessful.
“It was at this critical moment that Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun intervened decisively. Moved by compassion and a deep sense of responsibility, he reportedly declared that he could not, in good conscience, allow the people of Oko Ito Phase One to celebrate Christmas and the New Year in darkness.

“That resolve translated swiftly into action, culminating in the outright purchase and delivery of a new 500 KVA transformer—turning despair into hope”, he said.
The lawmaker’s aide also said that aside from the restoration of electricity to the community, it would also improve the economic and social activities in the area.
“The intervention by Hon. AMA marks a historic turning point for the community. The newly delivered transformer is expected to restore stable electricity supply, revive economic activities, enhance security, and return normalcy to homes that have suffered prolonged neglect”.
Community leaders described the gesture as timely, sacrificial, and a powerful testament to people-centered leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Chairman of the Oko Ito Phase One CDA, Mr. Shittu Azeez Olarenwaju, expressed profound gratitude, emphasizing that the transformer represents far more than infrastructure. According to him, it is a symbol of empathy, accountability, and a promise honored.
The CDA Secretary, Mr. Saburi Adeosun, also praised Hon. AMA for responding decisively after the community had exhausted its own efforts.
“This is not just the fulfillment of a campaign promise; it is the restoration of dignity, hope, and opportunity to our people”, a stakeholder said.

Through this intervention, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun has further reinforced his reputation as a leader who listens, feels the pains of the people, and acts decisively.
As light is set to return to Oko Ito Phase One, the message resonates clearly across Imota LCDA: compassionate leadership still exists, and promises made can indeed be promises kept.
