Aroyewun Presents ₦4.99bn Budget Proposal To Igbogbo/Baiyeku Legislative Arm

Omoba Hameed Aroyewun, Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA laying the proposed budget for 2026 on the table during its presentation to the council’s legislators on Monday.

The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omoba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Monday presented a budget proposal of ₦4,998,908,360.01 (Four Billion, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty Naira, One Kobo Only) to the legislative arm of the council.

The Appropriation Bill has a Recurrent Expenditure of ₦2,758,504,030.31 (Two Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Eight Million, Five Hundred and Four Thousand, Thirty Naira, Thirty-One Kobo) which amounted to 55.2% of the total sum budgeted for, and the Capital Expenditure was put at ₦2,240,404,329.70 (Two Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Million, Four Hundred and Four Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty-Nine Naira, Seventy Kobo) which is 44.8%.

Within the period, the council is expecting 682, 163, 308.33 as Federal Statutory Allocation, 3, 994, 504, 671.92 from Value Added Tax (VAT), 166, 116, 156.26 from its own Internally Generated Revenue and 81, 885, 663.94 from the State Co-ordinated Revenue among others.

The Appropriation Bill is themed, “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity” which the chairman said is “to emphasise our collective aspiration to build a council area where development is broad- based, opportunities are expanded, and no ward or demographic is left behind.”

Allocation to each section of the council includes Works 832, 430, 964.78, Education 581, 999, 306.13, Environment 64, 000, 000.00, Agriculture 160, 500, 000.00, Primary Health 155, 973, 108. 29 and WAPA 101, 000, 000.00

Presenting the proposed budget to the House led by Councillor Basirat Banjoko as the Council Leader, Aroyewun said that it reflects his administration’s GLORY Agenda and the long term Development Plan of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

“The detailed structure of the bill reflects balanced and responsible components proposed to fund governance and the needs of our people through targeted capital investments that are also inspired by our GLORY Agenda: G – Good Governance and Green Interventions; L – Learning; O – Optimal Wellness; R – Road and Other Physical Infrastructures and Y – Youth and Sports Development

“The budget structure also aligns with the long-term Council Development Plan of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA,” he said

He stated that expected resources from federal allocations, Internally Generated Revenue and other sources would be directed at Construction, Rehabilitation and Expansion of key road networks, Strategic drainage systems and flood mitigation, Strengthening primary healthcare and preventive services; Investments in education and human capital development; Digital empowerment and youth-focused skills programmes and Market development and local enterprise support.

Other areas listed were Environmental improvement and waste management reforms; Upgrading community security architecture; Rehabilitation of heritage centres and community facilities across all wards; Ongoing projects, including construction works at different sections ang junctions connected to the Obafemi Awolowo Road and Social services and poverty alleviation programmes.

While stating that he intends to strengthen the council administration, Hon Aroyewun, reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, and accountability.

“Additionally, we are strengthening internal administration through staff welfare enhancement, improved work tools, and better operational systems.

“Each allocation is tied to measurable outcomes, ensuring that public funds translate directly into public goods.
