The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, (NYCN) has been honored by the Lagos State Chapter, as the Overall Best Performing Local Branch in Lagos State.
The local branch, under the Co- ordinatorship of Comrade Taiwo Anuoluwapo, was presented with the award at the 2025 NYCN Lagos Annual Congress held in Badagry.
In a statement by the branch’s Coordinator, Comrade Anuoluwapo, he said that the honour came as a result of the local branch’s continuous push for youth development through deliberate activities and initiatives that are impactful.

“This outstanding recognition is a testament to the unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and tireless efforts of the executives, stakeholders, volunteers, and the vibrant youth community of Ikorodu West. It reflects the branch’s continuous drive for impactful youth development, innovative programmes, strong community engagement, and exceptional organizational performance throughout the year”.
He also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kareem Olarewaju, the Grand Patron of the branch, and the Lagos State NYCN leadership led by Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE, as well as all partners and supporters who have contributed immensely to the council’s growth and success.
“This award is not just a plaque, it is a symbol of hard work, unity, resilience, and the spirit of progress that defines the youths of Ikorodu West”, the co-ordinator stated.

“We dedicate this achievement to every young person striving to build a better community. This recognition further strengthens our resolve to do more”, he added.
The youth council reaffirmed its commitment to broadening youth opportunities through advocacy, empowerment programmes, skills acquisition initiatives, community development projects, and strategic collaborations that prepare young people for future leadership responsibilities.
As it celebrates this landmark achievement, the NYCN Ikorodu West Branch reiterated its pledge to continue setting standards of excellence across Lagos State, while strengthening partnerships that ensure sustainable and inclusive youth development.
