In a heart-warming display of social impact and community support, the Office of Rural Development, Lagos State, has executed a major charitable intervention at Lofty Skills Soccer Academy, Oke -Eletu in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, one of the beneficiary homes under the GLOWFUX Charity Concert initiative.

The donation of food and other items by the Office of Rural Development, which is overseen by the Special Adviser, Dr Nurudeen Agbaje, on Monday, took place following the nomination of the centre by GLOWFUX, as part of the Year 2025 Annual Community Day Celebration.

Items donated to the home were 15 packs of tissue paper, 2 bags of garri, 2 bags of rice, 2 bags of beans, 25 litres of vegetable oil, 25 litres of palm oil, 100 pieces of spaghetti, 15 cartons of NIMME noodles and 5 packs of Magic multipurpose soap.

According to GLOWFUX, the organisers of the annual charity concert, Lofty Academy was nominated for this year’s intervention because of its discipline, gratitude, and commitment to developing vulnerable children through sports.

This marks the first time the academy is receiving direct recognition and support from a government ministry since its establishment. Excited children, who were proudly dressed in their academy kits, welcomed the government delegation with cheers, smiles, and chants in appreciation of the rare gesture.

Dr Agbaje, speaking with THE IMPACT on the donation, said that the Office of Rural Development extended its gesture to Lofty Skills Academy and a rehabilitation centre.

“The gesture was part of the activities lined up for the Year 2025 Annual Community Day Celebration. The Ministry, through the Office of Rural Development, paid visits to Lofty Skills Academy in Ijede, and a Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre in Isheri, Lagos, to present gifts to the beneficiaries”.

The Governor aide added that the act of kindness is part of the ways through which the government is supporting those in need and showing them love and care.

According to the academy’s founder, Mr. Bola Yusuf, the ministry presented the home with an impressive list of food items and essentials, and described the donation as “massive, humongous, and deeply impactful.”

Overflowing with gratitude, Mr. Yusuf said, “We are eternally grateful to GLOWFUX for this blessing. God bless you sir. God bless GLOWFUX, and God bless Hon. Nurudeen Agbaje. This is massive, and on behalf of all the kids, we say thank you for nominating us for this great privilege”.

He noted that the academy has never been visited by any government ministry before now, making the gesture even more historic and encouraging for the children.

“On this note, we say a hearty thank you to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Hon. Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, and the ministry’s permanent secretary, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, for the privilege given to the academy”, the academy said in a statement.

The initiator of the GLOWFUX Charity Concert, Mr. Olubode Mac. Oserinde, also in a statement, noted, “This is why we exist – to serve, to connect, and to ensure that the most vulnerable among us can access every opportunity available. We thank the Office of the Special Adviser on Rural Development for this partnership and for trusting our nomination”.

“The visit to Lofty Skills Soccer Academy exemplifies the Lagos State Government’s commitment to community upliftment and grassroots engagement during the 2025 Community Day Celebration, an annual programme designed to highlight community values, development, and unity.

“The event also signals improved collaboration between government structures and NGOs/charity projects such as GLOWFUX, creating stronger networks of social support for needy children across the state”, he added.

GLOWFUX Charity Concert, organised annually by Fanafillit Integrated Concepts, has been commended for not restricting its impact to the December event alone, but also for actively pursuing opportunities that uplift its beneficiary homes throughout the year.

This successful intervention reinforces GLOWFUX’s mission to “embrace humanity and enrich lives” beyond the concert stage.
