The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, has called for collaboration within the council, stakeholders and general residents of Imota, to make the council an economic hub.
Hon. Benson made the appeal at a 3-day budget retreat, the first to be held by his administration, which started on Wednesday, at N.S. Sho Hotel and Suites, Ebute-Ajebo Road, Imota.
The retreat is themed, “Budget of Strategic Impact”.
“This budget retreat is not simply a gathering, but a platform designed to serve as a blueprint for successful budget implementation. To this end, as key stakeholders, our various contributions are essential to achieving the goals of our administration as outlined in the “Hi-SEE” Transformation Agenda.

“It is time for us to work together to transform our local government into an economic hub that will foster growth and development for our people in Imota LCDA.
“This implies that our administration needs the supportive roles and contributions from everyone, with unwavering commitment, partnership, and collaboration towards the progress and success of the BSA-BOJ administration. The success of this budget, and indeed the future of Imota LCDA, relies on our collective responsibility. Every individual must be prepared to play their part in building a brighter and more rewarding future for Imota LCDA”.
He assured residents of Imota that the 2026 budget would bring about good governance in terms of roads, good education, friendly environment and opportunities for youths among others.

“Leadership is not only about service, but also about leaving a lasting legacy that endures the test of time. That is why the Y2026 Budget is tagged as strategic impact; it will embody all the core principles of good governance.
“Together, we will strive to construct better roads, improved education systems, a cleaner environment, safer communities, expand opportunities for our youths, and platforms for sustainable livelihoods.
“It is important to acknowledge that this budget represents more than mere financial allocation; it is a bridge to achieving our set objectives as a local government. The focus on strategic impact signifies that our efforts today will yield long-lasting benefits, reaffirm commitment to delivering real, tangible improvements across our community, rebuild areas that need strengthening, introduce smarter and more efficient systems, drive meaningful development, and implement solutions that positively impact people’s daily lives”, he said.

He also announced his administration’s plans to improve on revenue generation which he said is vital to the attainment of the council’s programmes and programmes.
Imota Council Manager, Mr. Ayeni Olumuyiwa, in his own remarks, emphasized that the purpose of the budget retreat is to brainstorm, and find practical ways of implementing the budget, to bring about good governance.
“We are here to understand the core purpose of budget planning and implementation, which is primarily aimed at the overall development of Imota LCDA”.
Mrs Ariyibi, A.T., the Head of Budget Department, highlighted that budgeting is crucial to any democratic government and cannot be over-emphasized. She stated that the purpose of the gathering is to leverage on the expertise, collaborate, plan for Imota LCDA’s development, and address risk mitigation.

Discussions during the budget focused on various projects aimed at enhancing community development, with the Heads of Departments making inputs appropriately and contributing ideas towards reviewing Y2025 revenue and Y2025 overhead in order to perfect the Y2026 strategic impact financial plan.
All stakeholders present at the retreat contributed towards the Y2026 budget, with the aim of promoting the overall growth and development of Imota LCDA.
