-Undergraduate, postgraduate students to get scholarship award

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat will on Sunday, December 7, deliver the keynote address at the Lagos State University Muslim Alumni (LASUMA) 2025 General Assembly and Awards Ceremony, while the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Sen. (Dr.) Idiat Adebule, will chair the occasion.
Also expected at the event slated for 11am at the Eko Club Bamboo Elegushi Hall, Surulere, were royal fathers – HRMs Saheed Elegushi, Elegushi of Egushi, Oba Kolawole Abdulateef Lawal, Olumegbon of Lagos, Oba Ajah and Okun Ajah Kingdom, HRM. Oba Surakat Noah Olayiwola Adefimihan, Oba Idimu Kingdom, Egbe-Idimu.

The spiritual father of the day is the Chief Imam of LASU, Prof. Kudus O. Amuni.
In a press release by the President of LASUMA, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Anjorin, he also listed that Special Guests of Honour for the day are the Commissioner of Police and PSO to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Lateef Ahmed, PSC, Chairman of the C-57 and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman, Ojo Local Government, Hon. Muhibat Rufai- Adeyemi, Chairman, Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Hon. Prince Idris Balogun, among other political office holders and top public and corporate officials.
The 2025 LASUMA Assembly is themed: “Sustainable Economy: The Prophetic Model for Equity, Justice and Viable Economy”, with Hon. Dr. AbdulAkeem Abdul-Lateef, former Lagos State Legislator, Commissioner, and Chief Imam, and Dr. Munirudeen Salaudeen Arriyady, Mudeer, Zamzam and Lecturer at the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), as guest speakers.

The Chairman of LASU Muslim Community, Prof. Yusuf is the Chief host while LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi I. Olatunji-Bello, mni is the Grand host. The LASUMA 2025 AGM and Awards Committee is being Chaired by Prof. Abideen Tijani, while Mr. Mushafau Ige serves as the secretary amongst other Distinguished members.
LASUMA President, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Anjorin who doubles as the host expressed optimism of an eventful AGM and Awards ceremony where prospective scholars at undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be presented with different scholarships by expected donors and LASUMA Awards will be given to Eminent personalities supporting developmental projects.
According to Dr. Anjorin, the Annual General Assembly aims to engage stakeholders in meaningful discussions and propose actionable strategies to ameliorate critical challenges bedeviling Nigeria, while also emphasising that the current socio-economic condition of Nigeria is characterised by insecurity, kidnapping economic challenges, rising unemployment, tax complexities, and a pervasive lack of trust in leadership.

“This AGM seeks to encourage dialogue on innovative solutions that can lead to sustainable development and improved governance.
“LASUMA General Assembly is not just an opportunity to discuss challenges but also to appreciate the contributions of different personalities and organizations that have made meaningful contributions in their various communities,” he added.
