Omoba Hammed Aroyewun, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, has said that his civil service background prepared him for the council administration.
He emphasised that the experience and training acquired during his service with the Lagos State Government, enabled him to deal with challenges that confronted him when he resumed office as the Executive Chairman of the council.
Aroyewun spoke at the 2025 Public Service Day of the annual Igbogbo Day Celebration, held at De Shokis Hotel, Igbogbo.
“I will say with all sense of responsibility that the civil service prepared me for where I am today. Whatever I have learnt, the training, and the culture I went through in the civil service, were very useful for me, and that helped me to navigate whatever challenges I encountered with the things I met when I entered the office. So, I am privileged and happy about that”.

He called for the expansion of the public service forum beyond the annual Igbogbo Day celebration.
“I want to suggest to this organisation that we should not limit this to Igbogbo Day program alone. There is need for us to focus our strength on Igbogbo indigenes in the civil service. There is need for serious reorientation, and proper career and counselling, and we cannot achieve that when we come to a ceremony like this.
“There must be another platform for this so that we will have enough time to learn”.
He urged public servants to show more commitment and dedication to the development of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, while adding that he is always available whenever he is needed.
“I want to implore us that whatever we do will fall back on us. If you are loyal to the establishment, God has a special way of rewarding you. I have served Igbogbo, and Igbogbo has helped me.

“I want to urge all of us to give more commitment to the growth and development of Igbogbo kingdom. It is very important. Let us dedicate ourselves to the development of this community, and we must come together. There is strength in unity. A house divided by itself does not work.
“You are free to call on me anytime you have anything that you are bringing to Igbogbo. When there is sincerity of purpose, and unity, it will be easy to achieve”, Omoba Aroyewun said.
Aroyewun, who as enlisted in the service of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Generation (LIRS) in 2010, rose through the ranks to the level of a Revenue Manager and as at the time he emerged as the Council Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, the young politician and administrator, was Head, LASTMA/VIO Unit, Monitoring/Evaluation, Ikorodu, a position he assumed in 2024.

He had worked briefly as a teacher at the premier college in Ikorodu Division, Oriwu College as a teacher.
Aroyewun holds two Masters degrees, also holds an Executive Diploma in Tax Administration & Management, CITN 2023, and he is a member, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs 2023, Associate Member of the Association of Economics & Statistician of Nigeria (AESN) 2016, Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI) 2013.
