Ade Ayeni, Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and others interacting with nursing mothers during the commission of the Ibeshe PHC renovated and upgraded by Omoba Aroyewun’s administration on Thursday.

Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, the Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has stated that the realisation of the trust that the leadership of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) put in him and the need to protect the trust that people reposed on his administration with their mandate encourage his administration to deliver.

Aroyweun said this while explaining to stakeholders at the commissioning of the fully rehabilitated Ibeshe Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Thursday.

On his assumption of office, the health facility at Ibeshe that has been a sorry sight for many years was completely turned around by the administration of Omo’ba Aroyewun within his first 100 days in office by embarking on total rehabilitation of the facility, fixing and upgrading its flooring system. The administration re-energised the facility’s water system and changed all locks.

There were also partitioning to create more service units within the facility like injection room and other offices and PVC ceiling panels were replaced. The old roof of the facility was also completely removed and replaced with new sets to give the structure good covering. The project also includes changing some water cruisers and washbasins, fixing the water system both within the health facility and the external water-taps serving the public. The entire building has also been repainted.

“My emergence and that of my brother (vice chairman) as the candidate of our party – the All Progressives Congress in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, was carefully done by our leaders in the entire division and Lagos State. They always pick the best of the best the same way the process led to the emergence of my immediate predecessor.

Renovated and upgraded Ibeshe PHC

“We realised that we are called to service when our leaders picked us to represent the party and immediately we assume the office we embarked on a tour round the facilities and properties of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, and we did the need assessment to determine what people want, because we don’t want to sit back at the secretariat in Igbogbo to write what we like.

“In one of our tours to Ilemere to assess the road that Rep. Babajimi Benson planned to construct, and we got stuck on the bad road and in our attempt to force our vehicle out of the mud, we splashed dirt on our leader- Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya who told me that we should not plead with him because we are all in it together to improve our community.

“If Asipa at over 70 years is very keen and committed to the development of our community, what will be the excuse for us that are still young. That’s one of the things that keeps us on our toes and we are determined to work and make our marks,” Aroyewun said.

The Igbogbo/ Baiyeku LCDA chairman said the Ibeshe PHC is one of his administration’s priorities in its first 100 days, and thanked the honourable Councillors in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and staff of the council for making it achievable.

“In our first hundred days, we have embarked on a series of projects, which we intend to complete before the end of this year to benefit our people, and people are really commending us.

“The health facility that we have come to commission today is part of the projects that we are embarking upon within our 100 days in office. This couldn’t have been possible without a smart 21st century management staff of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. It couldn’t have been possible without our Councillors that are rooted in the grassroots.

“So, we have been able to achieve this and we are just starting. I am happy that this time we are in government, God is using us to achieve great things unlike before. We have to move very fast in terms of development and the leadership of our party is giving us 100% support and Olubeshe has assured us of his backing

Alhaji (Chief) Jamiu Olawale Abdullahi, popularly called ‘Bobomi’, APC chieftain and tradition chiefs at the commissioning.

“We will keep commissioning projects.

“If you look at our agenda, it is in synch with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President. So, all that we are doing is not just happening. It is how the President has designed it especially in the area of improving the allocations to the local government. It is through this that we are able to do this. Our agenda is also in tandem with that of Mr Governor.

“What we are following strictly is the manifesto and agenda of our party which is all about development, progress, human capital development, infrastructure and this is part of the infrastructure.”

He thanked the youths and the CDA/CDC for their collaboration and support.

Asipa Kaoli Olusanya the Asiwaju of Ibeshe, who commissioned the health facility commended the administration of Aroyewun for sustaining the existing facilities through renovation and upgrading.

“On this note, I’m happy to be here today to commission this new facility, which was renovated. So, when a new government comes it is not just financially prudent or wise going ahead to run to build and leave out the existing facilities. These facilities must be functional, and put in order through renovation. I am happy we did not abandon this to start a new one.”

Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in his remarks said that Aroyewun has proven those that did not believe in his capacity when he was picked as the candidate of the party wrong with his performance within 100 days in office.

While commending him for his good beginning, he charged his administration to continue to execute people’s-oriented projects and policies.

The Olubeshe of Ibeshe, HRM Oba Richard Ogunsanya, who was represented by Chief Rilwan Fatola, the Onisemo of Ibeshe, in his royal remarks commended the council chairman for what he has been able to do in Ibeshe in his first 100 days.

While also stating that people can see what his administration has been able to achieve within 100 days in other parts of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, pleaded with areas that he is yet to touch to be patient with him.

He called for support for the Aroyewun administration.

Mrs Olayinka Ogunbiyi, the head of PHC Ibeshe, also speaking, commended the chairman for his intervention in the Ibeshe PHC within his 100 days in office stating and describing it as a success story.

She added that the improved facility will serve the people better.
