IDRDG Centre Join Others In Hosting Computer – Based WASSCE For Private Candidates

The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) has joined the league of recognised institutions across the country that are hosting the computer -based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in the ongoing 2025 examinations which is the second on the series.

According to WAEC, the shift to CBT aims to reduce malpractices, enhance security, and provide faster results for candidates. The examination body also plans to fully implement computer-based WASSCE for school candidates beginning in 2026.

Registration for the 2025 second series was online and included the use of biometric features for validation at the exam centres.

A total of 314 centres are recognised by the examination body, 23 of these are based within the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, with three of them – Caleb University CBT Centre, Imota, Balad College CBT Centre, Agric and IDRDG CBT Centre, Ikorodu having two centres each.

The IDRDG as an institution setup for human capital development of Ikorodu established the Centre 1 under the IDRDG CBT Board, under the leadership of Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, former Minister of Works, who initiated the centre as chairman of the IDRDG. The centre has been hosting JAMB CBT examinations for about two years. The IDRDG Centre 2 was facilitated by the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson. The facility, which is well – equipped, is one of the constituency projects of the active lawmaker in his attempt to promote digital literacy in Ikorodu. It was commissioned about two months ago.

The two IDRDG CBT Centres registered 250 candidates each making a total of 500 private candidates, sitting for examination format which uses a hybrid approach where objective tests are fully computer-based, while essay and practical sections have questions on a screen and answers written on paper.

Speaking with Mr. Idowu Ibrahim Abiodun, Head Supervisor of the IDRDG Centres, who spoke with our reporter, he revealed that the examination which started on Tuesday at the centres is going smoothly.

He stated the new centre, facilitated by Rep. Benson, which has been handed over to the IDRDG has assisted in increasing the capacity of the IDRDG to accommodate more students for CBT examinations which he said is a good development that must be sustained.

Some of the candidates at the centre that spoke with our reporter commended the facilities.
