A concerned resident of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Mr Segun Olatunde, has made a passionate appeal to the council chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, over the abandoned Igbogbo/Baiyeku Road project by the Lagos State Government.
The concerned resident said the road was awarded and its construction has been on for about three years. The abandonment of the road construction has been a source of agony for residents and other road users. The concerned resident therefore appealed to the council chairman whom he called a caring chairman, to do something positive about the road.
The road Mr Olatunde had posted in response to a report written by THE IMPACT with the title, “100 Days In Office: Aroyewun Revives Social, Economic Lives With Reconstruction Of Oliwo/Amoju Road – Residents”, which the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Chairman shared on his Facebook page. Mr Olatunde lamented residents’ agony and frustrations.

The road project – Igbogbo to Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate, which the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has indeed been abandoned for some months is a source of pain to all road users.
”First, I want to congratulate you, sir, on your first 100 days in office sincerely. We’ve seen the energy and passion you’ve brought into leadership, and we truly appreciate your efforts so far. May God continue to give you the wisdom and strength to do even more for our people.
”Sir, I am writing as a concerned resident and a true resident of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, deeply worried about the current state of the road. That road has become a serious source of pain for many of us who live and move around this axis. It’s now in such a terrible condition that driving through has become a daily struggle — full of potholes, mud, and frustration.

”This same road was awarded for construction about three years ago, and we were all excited when the Governor of Lagos State promised it would be completed within two years. Sadly, almost three years later, work has completely stopped, and nothing meaningful is happening there anymore. Meanwhile, the Offin/Oreta Road, which was awarded after ours, is already nearing completion,” he lamented.
He charged Omo’ba Aroyewun to speak to the Governor of Lagos State on the need to continue the road project which has turned into a nightmare for the people.
He pleaded for palliative interventions in some critical spots which have made the road impassable if the project cannot be completed now.

”We know you care about the people sir, and that’s why we are appealing directly to your kind heart. Please help us speak to the higher authorities to ensure work resumes on the Igbogbo–Baiyeku Road as soon as possible. Even if it’s not immediately possible to complete it now, we would be very grateful if some temporary palliative repairs could be done on the worst parts — just two or three critical spots that make the road almost impassable.
Your intervention will mean a lot to us. It will ease the hardship people face daily and restore our hope that better days are ahead under your leadership.
May God continue to bless you, your family, and your entire team for all your efforts toward building a better Igbogbo/Baiyeku for everyone.”
