Aroyewun Expands Health Facilities With Full Rehabilitations Of Baiyeku, Ibeshe PHCs

-Reconstructs block of six classrooms at Methodist Pry Sch

Despite serious constraints being faced by some new council chairmen due to their predecessors’ financial mismanagement, the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), has defied all odds to start delivering on his electoral promises to the people.

Within his 100 days in office, the youthful council administrator has not only renewed people’s trust in the council administration, by ensuring an open -door policy, and rallying stakeholders for development, but he has also embarked on projects to turnaround critical sectors.

Within the short period, the chairman has touched education, road, primary health, security and youth development among others positively.

Primary Health:

Baiyeku PHC

On assumption of office, and sequel to a tour of available Primary Health Centres in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, the situation did not only reveal a sorry state of medical and clinical facilities in the council, but also the need for urgent intervention.

A few days to the marking of his 100 days in office, our reporters embarked on an assessment excursion with respect to his projects. Attention was paid especially to those that he pledged to deliver within the period, and one of these is the Baiyeku Primary Health Centre, which has been fully rehabilitated with an addition block of offices constructed.

The contractor engaged in rehabilitating the facility, removed the roofs which have been dilapidated and were not providing the much-needed cover and replaced them with new ones. The entire ceiling was also replaced.

Modern windows and doors were also fixed to the facilities to replace the out of touch and out of date ones that were in use before the intervention by Omo’ba Aroyewun. The entire facility’s toilets were also upgraded to modern ones.

In addition, the entire floor was tiled to make the place look better, respectable and neat.

After necessary wall rehabilitation, the structures were also repainted to give it a new look and the damaged water system from which the health facility has suffered inadequate water supply and also replaced with a new water pumping machine.

The project was completed within four weeks and delivered by the contractor.

It was also gathered that the Executive Chairman has also approved the complete concrete flooring of the PHC compound, a project which will commence next week along with installation of solar lights to illuminate the compound. This it is gathered is in alignment with the chairman’s promise of making the PHCs under his jurisdiction operate 24 hours in providing services to the people in the grassroots.

This facility that has been a sorry sight for many years has also seen q complete turnaround by the administration of Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun within his first 100 days in office.

The council also embarked on total rehabilitation of the facility by fixing and upgrading its flooring system. It re-energised water system and changed all locks.

There were also partitioning to create more service units within the facility like injection room and other offices and PVC ceiling panels were replaced.

The old roof was also completely removed and replaced with new sets to give the structure good covering.

The project also includes changing some water cruisers and washbasins, fixing the water system both within the health facility and the external water-taps serving the public. The entire building has also been repainted.

Like the Baiyeku PHC, the LCDA chairman has also approved the installation of solar lights to illuminate the compound. It was gathered that the installation would be done next week unfailingly.

Education

Establishment of A New Primary School

The administration has also intervened in the educational sector in no small way. Within its 100 days in office, the administration of Omo’ba Aroyewun concerned about the lack of public primary school in and around the Awobo, Zumratul, Offin/Oreta, Ogunlewe and other surrounding communities, initiated the establishment of a new primary school to serve the axis.

The new school which is going to be sited on a parcel of land that will be carved out of the Zumratul Islamiyah Grammar School, will also be named Zumratul Islamiyah Primary School, Igbogbo and has already been approved by the Lagos State Government with the officials of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education already at the site for inspection. The ministry officials commended the council boss for the initiative.

The building that has been fully rehabilitated by the new administration was abandoned for years and threatening to the staff and pupils of the school which is the first primary school in Igbogbo kingdom.

Incidentally, the executive chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun attended the school for his primary education.

The block of six classrooms which was an eyesore and constituted danger to the academic environment, have been totally rehabilitated and turned into a new structure that would accommodate the teeming pupils’ population and staff of the school.

The project work includes total overhauling of the roof and ceiling of the school and replacement with new ones, flooring and structural repair and construction of walkway for people with special needs/disabilities to access the building easily.

The administration has also constructed an adjoining block of six toilets for pupils and staff of the school.

The newly upgraded facility will compliment the block of classrooms provided by the by the immediate past Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Sesan Daini, which was commissioned by the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) ; one storey building structure which was facilitated by the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson some years back and an old structure within the school.

Security

To show his desire in ensuring security of lives and properties, the chairman has also rehabilitated the office of the Local Joint Taskforce located within the Baiyeku PHC, to support the council’s security personnel and boost their confidence.

Within the 100 days, the administration has also embarked on many programmes that have been impacting the lives of youths and residents of the council in general.
