Lagos First Lady Leads As Ikorodu Hosts COLWSO’s Pre-Conference Awareness Walk

First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, leading wives of Lagos State officials and other participants during the COWLSO pre – National Conference awareness walk in Ikorodu on Saturday.

In preparation for the 25th edition of the National Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, on Saturday, led other wives of Lagos State officials in embarking on a pre – conference awareness walk in Ikorodu.

Mrs Sanwo – Olu, Mrs Hamzat and other wives of Lagos State officials, were received by the six council chairmen in Ikorodu Division, at the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal where the walk commenced and moved to Matilda Recycling Hub at Raoni along Ibeshe Road. The team later paid a visit to the SAIL Innovation Lab of Sen. & Mrs Tokunbo Abiru, in Ipakodo.

From the SAIL, the COWLSO team moved to General Hospital, Ikorodu from where they headed to the Ayangbure palace along Ayangbure road, lkorodu, where residents, mostly women, were sensitized.

This year’s COWLSO Conference will hold at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, from Tuesday, 28th October to Thursday, 30th October, 2025.

It is themed, ‘Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up”.

Mrs Sanwo – Olu, speaking, reiterated the commitment of the present administration in Lagos, to touching lives, fostering community well-being and social impact.

She urged women to always make themselves relevance, and sustain the legacy of those before them.

“As we continue this symbolic journey, let us be reminded that when women walk together in unity and purpose in one voice and one vision, the path to success becomes clearer and the future becomes sharper, you cannot do it without us, you know, because if there’s no women, there’s no nation”, she said.

“Let us continue to step up, show up and never give up. Let us uphold the legacy of those who came before us and inspire the next generation as a catalyst for women’s development”, Mrs Sanwo-Olu said.

She commended the six chairmen of Local government and Local Council Development Areass in Ikorodu division, for the warm reception accorded her and her team.

Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA and the host council boss, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, appreciated COWLSO’s leadership for choosing Ikorodu, pledging that women empowerment would continue to be prioritized by his administration.

He also emphasised the role of women in nation-building, while also describing COWLSO programme as a symbol of unity and means of carrying women along in decision making.
