The Lagos State Education District II has officially presented letters of appointment to newly appointed principals following a rigorous selection process aimed at strengthening leadership across public secondary schools in the district.

The event, held at the Conference Hall of the District Headquarters, was attended by top education stakeholders in an atmosphere of celebration and commitment to excellence.

The Supervising Tutor General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Mr. Olusegun Osinaike commended the appointees for their diligence and dedication, describing their appointments as a “stepping stone to greater achievements”.

He urged the new principals to prioritise character, staff welfare, and the holistic development of their students while ensuring that government investments in education yield maximum impact.

“Congratulations on this feat you have achieved; it is not how long, but how well. The footprints of someone who spent a short period in service could be better than those of someone who spent a longer time,” Mr. Osinaike said.

“I implore you to add good character to your duties because your attitude will determine your altitude. Take good care of the welfare of your staff and students, and do not neglect your health. Ensure your teachers and students are well-dressed and that your schools have the required tools to operate. The investments of Mr. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu must not be allowed to become futile. Create an environment conducive to learning and teaching,” he added.

Mr. Osinaike, on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Mopelola Peregrino  presented letters of appointment to the new principals, charging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service delivery.

Also, speaking at the ceremony, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Mojisola Adeyemi-Fashola lauded the successful candidates for their resilience and outstanding performance during the selection process. She revealed that 46 out of 48 candidates emerged successful after a series of rigorous tests, including computer-based assessments and oral interviews.

“I want to congratulate all of you for achieving this feat. We all went through rigorous tests and interviews, and to God be the glory, 46 out of 48 candidates came out successful,” Mrs. Adeyemi-Fashola stated.

She noted that letters of appointment and deployment will be given to 24 Principals to fill existing vacancies in 24 schools, while the remaining successful candidates will receive their deployment letters as vacancies arise in the first quarter of 2026.
