Asoro, Lagos NYCN Vice Chairman Declares Bid For Deputy National President

Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, ACArb, aspirant for NYCN Deputy National President

Abubabakr Olatunji Asoro, a chartered arbitrator and youth development advocate, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

In his declaration of intent shared with our reporter, Asoro, who is currently the Vice Chairman, Lagos East Senatorial District of the youth organisation, highlighted the critical role he will play in ensuring administrative efficiency within the council.

‘As an aspirant for this position,’ “I will craft clarity from complexity, synchronise our efforts with precision, and uphold every voice on the path to our shared success,” Asoro stated.

The NYCN Lagos Vice Chairman, pledged to bring structure, accountability, and coordination to the operations of the national NYCN if elected, positioning the youth council as a hub for innovation and national youth engagement.

“My aspiration is inspired by a deep passion for youth development, grassroots mobilization, and inclusive leadership values that will further enhance the relevance and effectiveness of the NYCN as the umbrella body for Nigerian youths.

“If entrusted with this mandate, I pledge to uphold transparency, accountability, and excellence in service delivery, while working harmoniously with all stakeholders to advance the collective interests of Nigerian youths across all divides,” he said.

As the NYCN prepares for its next round of leadership elections, Asoro’s announcement has drawn attention within youth advocacy circles.

His campaign promises reflect a growing demand for transparent and responsive leadership in Nigeria’s youth-focused institutions.

Asoro who formally declared for the office of the Deputy President after being successfully screened at Agura Hotel in Abuja noted that: “As a man who believes in equity and equal representation, I agreed to cede the position of Secretary General (which he was initially gunning for) to be zoned to the South East and I have accepted to contest as Deputy President knowing the critical essence and contribution the position provides in ensuring good governance.”

He noted further that “Our campaign runs on tripartite pillars which are Accountability, Collaboration and Transformation (ACT). ACT is built on the belief that transformational change happens when young Nigerians lead with integrity, partner across sectors and harness innovation to solve our biggest challenges.”
