The Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has hailed the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, for his swift intervention in the rehabilitation of the 1.8-kilometre Ilemere–Oshorun Road.
In a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Oluwaseun Ajayi, he said that Aroyewun described the project as a long-awaited lifeline for residents and businesses in the area.
The council boss who led a joint inspection of the road alongside the Vice Chairman, Barr. Ade Ayeni; Councillor for Ward C4, Hon. Yusuf Bello; and Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Benson for approving the project after years of unrelenting appeals from residents over the deplorable state of the road.

“Hon. Babajimi Benson has once again proven his unwavering commitment to grassroots development and the welfare of our people. This is not just another road project; it is a decisive intervention that will ease the burden on thousands of commuters, traders, and schoolchildren who depend on this corridor daily.
“I wholeheartedly commend and eulogise him for his responsiveness and passion for service,” Aroyewun stated.
The inspection covered the entire 1.8-kilometre stretch, beginning from the AP Junction at Ibeshe through Idi-Oro, Ilemere, and terminating at Abule Oshorun. The Chairman noted that this key corridor links several communities in the Ibeshe area to the Igbogbo/Baiyeku main road and is vital to the socioeconomic growth of the LCDA.

According to him, the poor condition of the road had for years stifled free movement, disrupted commerce, and compounded daily commuting challenges.
“With JB’s intervention, we can now anticipate a safer, more accessible, and economically vibrant Ilemere–Oshorun corridor. This rehabilitation will not only improve mobility but also rekindle confidence in sustained infrastructural renewal within our LCDA,” he added.
Also speaking at the site, Asiwaju Olusanya praised the partnership between Chairman Aroyewun and Rep. Benson, describing it as a model of cooperative governance that prioritises the people’s needs above politics.

Excited residents of the area also expressed delight at the development, commending Hon. Benson for promptly responding to their pleas and lauding Aroyewun for consistently championing the demand for the road’s repair.
The rehabilitation will be handled by LaraLek Construction, a reputable indigenous company known for quality road infrastructure delivery. The project is expected to commence as soon as possible, transforming the Ilemere–Oshorun Road into a durable and reliable route that will boost livelihoods, commerce, and connectivity across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
