2025 Edition Of King Kosoko Memorial Lecture Holds Sunday

The annual King Kosoko Memorial Lecture, a gathering which has been positioned as the gathering of important personalities, scholars and residents of Lagos to discuss the state’s traditional histories and in particular, the life and times of the former Lagos monarch, King Morounfolu Kosoko (1845 to 1851), will hold tomorrow, Sunday, September 21, 2025.

It is being organised by the Lagos royal family in honour of the former King of Lagos, King Kosoko. The lecture will hold at its traditional place – The Glover Memorial Hall, Customs, Lagos Island, Lagos.

The lecture themed, “ The Lagos Kingship: Its Territory, Culture. Traditions and Its Districts Before 1862”, starts at 12pm.

In this year’s edition, Prince Abiola Kosoko, the Oloja of Lagos – elect and the Chief Curator of King Kosoko Memorial Museum, will again be presenting another book on the late king of Lagos.

As usual, The Memorial Lecture, will also feature display of King Kosoko’s relics, letters and other materials.

Many prominent state and federal officials are expected to grace the occasion, so also are important Lagos traditional rulers, chiefs, personalities and the academia.

Also expected at this year’s event are diplomats and others.

Compilation of last year’s lecture “The Lagos Economy in the Era of King Kosoko: A Talent of Prosperity and the Decline”, and previous ones and other museum’s documents will be available.
