The Council Leader, Legislative Arm, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Councillor Adeshina Ademola Oluwole, has been unanimously elected as the Chairman, Ikorodu Division Councillors’ Forum.
He took over from the immediate past Council Leader, Ikorodu LG, former Councillor Adebowale Adebola at the inaugural meeting of the 30 local lawmakers across the local council and five local council development areas (LCDAs) – Ikorodu LG, Ikorodu West LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Ijede LCDA and Imota LCDA, held at N.S. Sho Hotel & Suites, Imota.
The position of the chairman of the forum was zoned to Ikorodu Constituency II since the last occupant was from Ikorodu Constituency I, which led to the consensus on Councillor Adeshina and his peaceful emergence.

Councillor Adeshina, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and pledged to build on the legacy of his predecessors for a greater Ikorodu Division. He called on all Councillors to support the new leadership to achieve more for the forum and foster progress and unity within the division.
He expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, for continuous support since his inception in office as the Council’s Leader, and promised to work in harmony with all the six Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division for the betterment of the Councillors Forum.
Adeshina also commended the outgone administration of Councillor Adebowale Adebola, for his leadership and the enabling support provided for a smooth, peaceful, and credible inaugural meeting that led to his emergence as his successor.

In his remarks, former forum’s chairman, Councillor Adebola congratulated his successor and charged him to start working immediately to surpass his own achievements. He advised the new Councillors to be upright and diligent in discharging their constitutional duties and to use their office for the service of the people, viewing it as a stepping stone for a bigger position.
He emphasised that the Councillors’ Forum was established to promote and protect the collective interest of all Councillors in Ikorodu Division while fostering an amicable relationship and unity with the executive.
The Vice Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh, who represented the Council Chairman, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, advised all Councillors to work together in harmony with their respective Council Chairmen, stressing the importance of collaboration and teamwork between the legislators and the executive to drive meaningful progress across Ikorodu Division.

At the meeting were Hon. Alimi Nurudeen, a former State Chairman of the Lagos State Councillors’ Forum and former President of the National Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria, former Council Leaders and other stakeholders.
