The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has inspected the ongoing construction of 1.3-kilometre Monsuru Egbeyemi Street project in Idiroko, Ikorodu Local Government.
Agbaje in a statement on his social media handle said that, “The inspection focused on the road’s drainage system, which is currently under construction as a preparatory phase ahead of full road development. According to project handlers, the drainage work is critical to ensuring the durability and sustainability of the road once completed.
During the inspection, the governor’s aide engaged stakeholders and reiterated that the project is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure renewal across the state.

“It was emphasised that effective drainage systems remain a priority in Lagos Road projects, particularly in flood-prone communities like Idiroko.
“This administration is determined to deliver roads that last, and that begins with proper drainage. Once this stage is completed, the road construction will follow without delay,” Agbaje informed.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government through the Office of the Special Adviser has also flagged off the construction of a 200-metre road on Sanni Street in Ifelodun LCDA, as part of its rural development drive to tackle poor road networks, flooding, and inadequate lighting in underserved areas.

The project, is expected to be completed within six months and will feature solar-powered streetlights and a 7.5 by 7.5 drainage system.
According to Dr Agbaje, the project which was initiated on the recommendation of Hon. Lookman Olumo, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I and Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, is in fulfillment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s promise to the community, which has long struggled with mobility and commercial challenges.
