The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, has charged residents of Ikorodu, especially those that are yet to register for their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and those that are just moving to Ikorodu from their old location, to take advantage of the ongoing process.
Prince Ladega, who emphasized that voting strength is being used to negotiate for projects and bargain for power, enjoined residents to participate in the exercise that has been brought to their areas.
He gave the charge at the commencement of his listening tour across wards on Wednesday.

“Another general election is coming in 2027 and we are preparing for that. In our preparations, we deem it fit that we cannot approach it like before. Changes have been introduced in terms of taking the voters’ registration to different areas.
“Before now, people always go to the INEC office to register which is very tedious, but all that you need to do now is to register online, and we have provided assistance to assist you in doing this across various wards. Thereafter, you go for capturing at the INEC office.
“For the capturing, we have also put in place arrangements to convey you from your locations to the INEC office. It’s possible that we will do it ward by ward to ensure effective organization. We will communicate the details to you after we might have concluded with the INEC on the modalities so that we will have smooth registration”.

While urging stakeholders to canvass people to register for their PVCs, Prince Ladega also emphasized the need to increase Ikorodu’s voting strength.
“We implore you to canvass your people to come out to register and make themselves available whenever we are ready to move you to the INEC office for capturing.
“We are pleading because it is votes that we are using to negotiate for projects and programmes from the state and the federal governments.
“We have so many roads that are in need of urgent attention, and it is when we improve on our votes that we can get more government interventions.

“We are also clamouring that Ikorodu should produce the next governor of Lagos State, this is another reason that we must have massive voters’ registration.
“It is only when we have a governor from Ikorodu that we can have all our roads tarred like Surulere and other parts of the state. The intervention that we are enjoying from the federal government are those facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson and that is what we want to emulate”, Prince Ladega said.
