A foremost communication scholar and Head, Department of Mass Communication at Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Dr. Prosper Zannu has been listed among top 500 communication scholars in Nigeria by Elsevier Scopus SciVal. Scival is a research analytics tool from Elsevier that measures the metrics gathered from the Scopus dataset. It provides information on the research output of scholars, and it contributes to university ranking.
This was conveyed through a document released by the organisation early this week.
In his congratulatory remarks, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University of Science and Technology commended Dr Zannu for the outstanding feat. He described the listing as a testament of Dr. Zannu’s profound scholarship and dedication to value adding research efforts. He further stated the novel development demonstrated the University’s continuous efforts at supporting its faculty in churning out solution driven research outcomes and publications.
In his reaction, Dr. Zannu expressed his delight at being listed among the elite scholars in Nigeria stating that it was a product of steady investment in rigorous academic research activities. “I am not taking this listing for granted but as a strong motivation to spur me into more productive academic research output”, he added.
The listing which is released annually by Elsevier Scopus SciVal the a credible research database that ranks Universities and researchers in Times Higher Education all over the world. Also only publications indexed in Scopus are used to rank universities yearly.
